Too much pressure on the new Tulsi
| ||
I was ecstatic. At the same time, I know it's a huge responsibility but I can handle it well. But I must confess, I'm feeling the pressure. Everything has turned around for me in the last few days.
When did you get the offer from Ekta Kapoor?
I was approached by Balaji Telefilms a couple of months back. I was offered three shows at that time - Kyunkii, Kayamath and Kasauti Zindagi Kay since all three shows were going in for a major changes in the storylines. But later, when I met Ekta, I was shortlisted for the role of Tulsi.
How do you approach this new challenge?
I'm not preparing too hard for this role. I'm a spontaneous actor and never do any home work before working on a project. I will not try and imitate anyone and have full faith in my ability.
What changes can the viewers see in the new Tulsi?
I cannot reveal much but my entry in the show. All I can say is that after Tulsi's accident in the last episode, the show will take another six-month leap and this is when my character comes in. I will gradually enter the Virani household after Tulsi undergoes a plastic surgery.
Does that mean a new look for Tulsi?
The character is well created and has been a phenomenon for seven years. People look upto her in more than one way. As far as replacing Smriti is concerned, I'm aware that she's synonymous with Tulsi but I will try to create my own identity. There's nothing wrong with replacements as actors can get bored and stagnated once in a while. My look is also according to the character, I will sport grey hair and that older look. I'm expecting a mixed reaction.
Any projects with husband Ram Kapoor?
I would love to work with him again after Ghar Ek Mandir. But both of us can't think of anything else other than our respective shows. |
