The Smriti Irani-Ekta Kapoor split is finally out in the open. Why did they decide to part ways? And now, who'll be the new Tulsi?

It's now been announced loud and clear that Smriti is taking a break from being Tulsi, in Ekta Kapoor's Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ... A role she's been playing for the past seven years. So is this the end of a much talked about mentor-protg relationship? In a recent interview, when Smriti was asked about her so-called rift with Ekta Kapoor, she said curtly, "What about it? Enough has been said and I don't want to respond to that." Ekta on the other hand says, "I've the highest regards for Smriti professionally. On a personal level, I wouldn't like to comment on where our friendship stands today. Will Kyukii ... survive without Smriti? All I can say is God is on our side."

And now, here's what our sources say went wrong: Ekta's apparently displeased with Smriti's successful stint as a TV producer. Sources say that Smriti has three more shows lined up besides the two that are currently on air. And Viruddh is quite a rage with couch potatoes. In contrast, many K-shows are being reworked so that they can climb back onto the popularity charts. Is that the reason for the end of the rapport between Smriti and Ekta?

Actually no... it all first began when Ekta was planning the second 20 years leap. "She did not like the whole idea of another leap and neither was she happy with the look that she was given," says our source. Then, Smriti came out with her own serial, Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Aasman (co-produced by Ekta). "Smriti started ignoring the shooting schedules of Kyukii ... and began to delay shooting. She used to come late on the sets and because most of her scenes are combination scenes, the other actors always kept waiting for her," our source says. And then Ekta pulled out of Thodi Si ... "This did it for Smriti and Ekta. They both decided that things will not work out between them," the source adds.
So, a new Tulsi will be re-introduced between the May 21 and 25 episodes. "I have zeroed in on three names in Smriti's place. They are Padmini Kolhapure, Gautami Gadgil and Poonam Dhillon. While we are in the advanced stages of discussion with the first two, Poonam has just been approached," says Ekta. Smriti, on the other hand has her hands full with three more serials.

though she is the most successful producer of telly,ekta is turning out to be arrogant and selfish.smriti will soon outshine her(ekta)as a brilliant producer.already the accolades for being a successful actress are present in her kitty. hats off to such a magnificent woman.(smriti of course)
