I FAILED'
Actor Sanjit Bedi is a health conscious guy but the actor has one habit that he wants to quit — smoking. Sanjit and co-star Ronit Roy decided to quit smoking together. But Sanjit couldn't resist the temptation. And that's something he is not proud of. "Ronit and I are very good friends and we often share our van. During one of our talks we realised decided to give up smoking. Ronit suggested that we take one step at a time and do it gradually, but I insisted that we give up smoking completely. Needless to say my extreme attitude didn't really long last, while Ronit is making good headway. Ronit passed, I failed," laughs Sanjit.
But the actor isn't giving up as yet. "I was smoking so much that even my staff used to hide my cigarette packs. Also, if you see I don't lead an unhealthy lifestyle. I workout regularly, eat the right kind of food and make sure that I am always fit. Now, I desperately want to quit smoking. And I am willing to do anything to give up smoking," he says.
When asked what made Sanjit decide to quit smoking, he says, "I think when you are a public figure you need to be aware of what kind of impact you are having on people around you. And I am not talking just about the audience, but even the spotboys and other people who hang out on the sets. These guys who are in their teens, when they see an actor smoke they think it's cool. There's no denying the fact that this habit will only yield harmful results and it's better if one can give it up. But of course, it's easier said than done" But it's not just the image that matters. "Nowadays one hears of cases of youngsters getting heartattacks. I want to do something about it before it's too late," says Sanjit. There is another reason for Sanjit's resolve. The actor says his resolve has become stronger now. "Especially since my wife is chasing me with a broomstick these days. So are all my friends," he laughs.
