Q Do you feel Baa still has an important role?
Baa is the oldest and strongest member of the Virani family. The presence of an old character gives a sense of reality to a family drama. Baa takes care of the entire family but she never pokes her nose in other people's matters. She believes in giving space to every generation. Her character adds substance to the depiction of family drama and the portrayal of old characters. That is why viewers want more of her. I play a 106-year-old woman in the serial but I am only 59 years old!

Q Your role in Kasamh Se is different. How do you manage two dailies?
In Kasamh Se, I play a typical Punjabi character, the role is closer to my real age. As far as the shooting is concerned, I work nearly 30 days each month. For Kasamh Se I shoot 10-12 days, and the rest of the days are for Kyunki…

Q Many complain they've had enough of Kyunki…
In fact, the viewership of the serial has increased these days because it is a good family serial. Just a handful of people make a fuss of it. I admit there are some bad phases in family serials but they regain the interest value soon.

Q Are rape scenes necessary in almost every family drama?
If the script demands it, then maybe. However, I can't comment as I am just an actor.

Q Many TV actors are turning producers. Any such plans?
I tried my hand at production but soon discovered it is not my cup of tea. To be a producer one has to be very smart, intelligent, and crafty. I am a very simple person.
