'It's disturbing to have the odd scene per episode'

Krishna Tulsi aka Mouni Roy is unhappy with the way her role is shaping up in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and wants more screen time. Is Ekta Kapoor listening?

When Mouni Roy aka Krishna Tulsi stepped into predecessor Smriti Irani's shoes as the new Tulsi, expectations loomed large. But somewhere her magic failed to entice the audience like Irani's had. However, the actress is not to be blamed for it entirely. She's barely given any screen time to begin with. Is Ekta Kapoor listening?

Mouni says that she is unhappy with the way her character Krishna Tulsi is being developed in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. "Kyunki… is a daily and I'm aware that tracks change every day. But yes, I had expected my role in the show to be different. Krishna Tulsi is supposed to be central to the show and should get more prominence," she says.

The actress says that she's still waiting for her turn to take centre-stage. "It is disturbing to have the odd scene per episode. I wasn't expecting this. I understand that the Virani family is huge and other characters need to be talked about too. But it's taking too long for my character to take the lead," she says. As of now the show revolves around Vikas Sethi's aka Abeer. "I know," she sighs. "Like I said, right now the focus is on other characters and I'm still waiting for my turn to come."

Given the situation, how can she prove her mettle if she has a miniscule role? "It has been just a few months since I've started working in Kyunki.... I don't expect audiences to fall in love with me and my character in a short span of time. Every character takes time to grow on the audience. Unfortunately, people haven't had the chance to see too much of Krishna Tulsi in the show. Give me some screen time first. Only then can I have an impact on viewers," she says.

Of course, it doesn't help to be mired in controversies. Mouni is considered to be the most unpopular actor on the sets and has to constantly fight off rumours about her alleged liaison with co-star Pulkit aka Lakshya.

But hunnie, she had the whole 1 month to impact as much as she wanted. June/July roamed basically around her. The one who has to create an impact does it in the time provided. The one who cannot, goes hunting for excuses. Quite an attitude for a newcomer. Wonder what Ekta has to say about this.😛
