Interview of the week: By Sneha Hazarika

Reshmi Ghosh, Miss India Earth 2002 is one of the most hep new actresses in Tellywood. After Miss India, Reshmi wanted to join films but unfortunately, unlike her contemporaries Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley and Tanushree Dutta, things weren't very rosy for the vivacious girl. But a fighter to the core, Reshmi has come back with a bang playing one of the most important parts from generation-X in Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Here's a tete-a-tete with the Bong model/actress about her role Bhoomi, her individuality, friendships and much more.

How easy is it for you to portray this character on the small screen?
Initially I was somewhat apprehensive and couldn't relate to it totally as Bhoomi Viraani isn't similar to Reshmi in any way. But Ekta was clear from day one as to how she wanted the character to be like. She sat with me and we discussed. Now I am actually enjoying playing it. She has her individuality, is very reserved and doesn't allow anyone to step into her personal space. Now I wish I was more like Bhoomi!

Your look has been quite talked about. What are your personal inputs as far as makeup goes?
Yes, my look is unique. The character is particular about her makeup. She is into westerns and not into Indian outfits. She does her hair well, likes kajal and wears a nose ring. So it's very nice. I have been working for the last seven -and-a-half years and I am particular about my look.

How friendly are you with the youngsters on the sets?
I am very friendly with the entire young gang. Now I am actually missing all of them because currently my track is with my bua and Abir. With them it's great fun too. New entrant Abir played by Manoj Bidwai is a little on the older side in the show. But then it's great working with him too.

What about the older generation of actors?
Yes they too are great. Meera played by Subhaavi is actually close to our age and she is very friendly and helpful. I am friendly with Hiten Tejwani who plays my dad. Also Suvarna Jha who plays Trupti and Tasneem who plays Mohini are quite friendly too. Everyone on the set gives Ba (Smriti Iraani) the well deserved respect. No one is snooty out there. It's just like an extended family.

What about your special friendship with Mouni Roy, who plays Krishna Tulsi?
First of all she is a Bengali. She is very young and new. So I try to help and guide her as much as I can. Now she is doing quite well. She was staying with me at my place when she landed in Mumbai. As far as guidance goes, I give people whatever they are willing to learn. I don't force myself on anyone.

Now your modelling career is going great guns too?
I am the brand ambassador for Nyle herbal shampoo. I am also modelling for Nerolac paints.

Were you initially disappointed when your film career didn't take off?
I did like five to six projects but unfortunately for some or the other reason they didn't get released. Baba Films was one of the prestigious banners that I had worked with. But maybe luck wasn't with me. It's one of the most important factors after all. I have gone through quite a bit. It was really a very long wait but then I am a positive person.

Would you consider doing a Balaji film tomorrow?
Oh yes, who knows?
