Gayatri went from good to bad?
As the last bahu of the first generation of Viranis, she was that dutiful daughter-in-law in Shantiniketan (the abode of the Viranis). She blindly followed the elder bahu Savita (Apara Mehta) till her bahu Tulsi (Smriti Z Iraani) began calling the shots.

Tulsi was Gayatri's bone of contention?
When Tulsi began taking decisions, things became unbearable for Gayatri. The first salvo was the case of the stolen necklace. Later, Gayatri was instrumental in throwing Tulsi out and goading Mihir (Ronit Roy) to bring Meera (Shubhaavi) into the Virani parivaar.

Post the second generation leap, Gayatri has turned into a scheming woman…
She is the elder person in the house and is on her own now. Savita is missing from the scenario and it only Ba (Sudha Shivpuri) who is around. The anti-Tulsi and anti-Shilpa stand continues.

Can such a character exist in real life?
Why not? It all boils down to the tussle between two women for control. The mother-in-law/ daughter-in-law relationship is one of those ill-at-ease ties. The battle is for control of any member of the family and ultimately it is the financially stronger one that gets the upper hand.
