Meet choti behen Maddhvi Chopra

Smriti Z Iraani has roped in actor Maddhvi Chopra for her upcoming production 'Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman (Star Plus). The show which has Smriti playing the 27-year-old Uma, is being co-produced by Ektaa Kapoor.

Smriti will play a strong and confident girl who runs her family in this weekend show. Insiders say that Smriti's character will have the same values that Tulsi holds on to in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'(Star Plus). Of course, Smriti will look younger and slimmer as Uma.

Maddhvi who is currently seen in 'Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyan' (Sahara One) is elated about the project. Revealing about her role Maddhvi says, "It's a second lead. I play Uma's best friend Sapna and am in love with her brother. The story focuses on the ups and downs in life. It's a realistic show which ordinary people can relate to. It does not have glamour or any of the saas bahu drama attached to it."

Sharing her apprehensions about being in the same frame with Smriti, Maddhvi says,

"Smriti is one of the biggest stars of the small-screen. I was quite tense on the first day of the shoot. I have managed to break the ice though. As a producer she doesn't interfere with the director."

And does she fear being sidelined by Smriti? "You tend to get lost in a scene with Smriti. But she never tries to overact or steal the limelight from you. She is a thorough professional," she says.

The actor agrees to the fact that there is an overdose of melodrama on the small-screen.
However, she adds, "Till you get viewers for such shows, they will continue. The audience has to convey that they want variety in programming. That's the only way producers will decide to experiment."

Wife of actor Rajesh Kumar (Roshesh in 'Sarabha vs Sarabhai'), Maddhvi says that she is keen to work with her husband too. "At least, we'll get to see each other more often," she laughs.
