I don't understand why some people say that Karan treats Manthan as his step son.I don't think thats true.Fathers are usually more attached to their daughters and in Karan's case Karan cares for Bhoomi b'coz he has lost Nands already and he doen't want to loose Nands reflection.But that doesn't means he treats Manthan as his step son.He knows Manthan is manipulative and a prankster and so he scolds him for his mistake.
As far as bringing up of kids is concerned I accept that he has failed as a father b'coz he chose to be a son crying for the lose of his mother rather than being a good and successful father in bringing up his kids in a good way.But we all know that he's going to realise his mistake and regret later so lets wait for that time to come.
