He's made quite a stir with his entry as the cool dude Lakshya in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Pulkit, who plays Saahil's son on the show, has earned the affection of a lot of female viewers since his entry on the show.
"I am still recovering from the feedback I got for my entry sequence on Kyunki. I don't want to sound boastful, but I don't think any other actor has got such a smashing entry scene on television ever."
Biting the dust
The actor, who hails from Delhi, was initially chosen as the lead actor in Manish Goswami's Sixer. "I was supposed to do that show, but it never happened. So when my contract expired, I decided to audition for Kyunki. I went for it and got selected instantly."
However, not many know that Pulkit believes in doing lot of homework before facing the camera. "Some may find this funny, but I do a lot of riyaaz before I am ready for the show. This includes doing facial and vocal exercises."
Another reason for working on his voice is due to his allergy to dust. "I cannot speak when there's too much dust around. I start coughing in between lines and it becomes a problem."
So how does he manage to shoot for long hours for his show? "I have done Barry John's workshop for voice modulation in Delhi. Besides that, there are a couple of exercises I do on my own. One of them is humming different songs with varying pitches; this is supposed to be good for your throat. It helps to fine-tune your vocals as well. Secondly, I also practise saying OM in different ways. That helps in resonating your voice. Lastly, there are a couple of asanas that I perform to work on my allergy."
Back-breaker
However, Pulkit's trouble don't end there. The actor has been suffering from slip-disc for the last few years, and is hunting for a good doctor to treat his ailment.
"I have been suffering from this problem for quite some time. I love dancing, but I can't indulge in it because of my back. I also had to go through lot of pain doing a couple of action scenes in Kyunki."
On the personal front, Pulkit enjoys watching movies in his spare time and is a trained magician as well. "I am a street magician. I like performing for crowds. In fact, I have shown the Kyunki unit a couple of tricks and they are awed of them. I rarely get free time, but when I do, I prefer watching movies. I recently watched Krrish and was bowled over by the amount of effort everyone has put into its making."
