Hey Friends,

I understand every1 is extremely excited about the leap which is just a few hours away. There are loads of different topics for the same thing, so deicded to organize things so we can discuss everything under one thread.

Here is some information about the leap, the new characters😛

Kyunki Saas: Meet Gen Next

Bhumi Who: Karan and Tanya?s daughter
Played by: Reshmi Ghosh Reshmi, who was crowned Miss India-Earth in 2002, claims that Bhumi is a headstrong, spoilt brat, the complete opposite of what she is in real life. "I was waiting for the right offer in films to come up all this time," she says, "but nothing exciting did. I realised that TV was a more secure industry though, which is decided to work in this medium." She originally met Ekta for a different role, but was offered this one. "I am happy about this," she says, "and now have a three-year contract with Balaji Telefilms."

Manthan

Who: Karan and Tanya's son
Played by: Amit Tandon

Last year's Indian Idol finalist Amit is excited about his role. This is his second Balaji venture after Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. "I did not think twice about the offer," he says. "Firstly, because the production house is Balaji. Secondly, because I consider myself extremely lucky to have been given a chance in an established show like Kyunki..."

He describes Manthan as very shrewd, brooding and manipulative.

Lakshya

Who: Son of Sahil and Ganga
Played by: Pulkit Samrat Pulkit, who plays the mischievous, religious and sensitive Lakshya, says, "I play a good guy. True to the traditions of the Virani family, I always try to be honest and upright, standing up to family values. It is a great experience working on this serial."

According to the grapevine, Lakshya may also be the love interest of Krishna Tulsi.

Joydeep

Who: Sahil's adopted son
Played by: Manav Vij

Psychiatrist-turned-actor Manav Vij claims, "The role is of an extremely lovable and simple geek who is adopted by the Virani family." But how does a psychiatrist fit into the boob tube? "Acting is my passion. It?s why I am in this profession despite passing out from Ludhiana University with a degree in psychiatry. However, whenever I get a chance, I do provide counselling services," says the actor, who dreams of playing the role of Adolf Hitler some day. Eventually, Joydeep will marry Bhumi in the serial. And, if Joydeep?s looks remind you of Tusshar Kapoor in Gayab, don?t be surprised. That is very intentional!

Nakul Virani Who: Adopted son of Sahil and Ganga
Played by: Naman Shah
Better knows as Pushkar in Kasamh Se, Naman is very happy about being part of two popular Balaji shows on two different channels.

"Post-Kasamh Se, expectations from me have gone up. I hope I will be able to match them," he says.

His character Nakul is an unhappy child who has not done much, in terms of his career, over the last two decades.

Archita

Who: Mohini and Yash?s daughter
Played by: Gunjan

Gunjan, who hails from Kolkata, says, "I have walked the ramp in Kolkata and played a role in Sahara?s Hare Kaanch Ki Churiyan. I also had a cameo in the film Pyare Mohan. I hope this serial gives me a foothold in the industry."

She plays Archita, a bubbly, confident and outgoing teenager.

...in a dapper suit, gelled hair, glasses and a very sober look (a few years ago, it was Ronit Roy aka Mihir Virani), Rakshanda Khan aka Tanya, going easy on her make-up and a whole lot of new actors. Superficial changes in appearances notwithstanding, the actors cracked up every now and then with Ba (Sudha Shivpuri) walking with a stick (maybe to indicate she had crossed a few more years) and going by their loss for words every time somebody wanted to know how their character had evolved in the new scenario, we knew nothing had changed at all.

The Kyunki… team has always been known for the camaraderie between its mammoth cast and it wasn't any different with the newer lot. About half a dozen new faces have joined the Virani family including Naman Shaw, Amit Tandon, Reshmi Ghosh, and Akashh Deep Saigal (returning as his own son, meaning as Ansh Gujral's son). While Saigal was conspicuous by his absence, the others were 'ragged' by their onscreen parents and made to touch their feet before talking to the media. Said Tejwani, "You all can touch the feet of the women present but don't touch my feet, give me a hug." It was funny to see the younger lot (already into their characters) actually touching the feet of Ba, Tanya and Damini (Riva Bubber) and a couple of them even forgetting who their on-screen parents were! Can't blame them.

Ektas Comment about the leap

I want to be known as a media mogul: Ektaa Kapoor

Birthday gal Ektaa Kapoor talks about the year ahead — entry of the new Tulsi in 'Kyunkii...', fresh projects and her wish-list.

It's not going to be a mega birthday celebration for the prime time princess today. Producer Ektaa Kapoor who has just returned from a holiday in Mauritius dismisses any festivity, "No birthday plans — it's only going to be work! There are two new serials coming up — 'Kasturi' in July and 'Kis Rishtey Se' in August. I'm busy with them. While 'Kasturi' is about a small-town girl placed in a city, the latter focuses on the relationship between two sisters."

Krishna Tulsi
But coinciding with her birthday will be the screen-birth of Krishna Tulsi, played by debutant Moni Roy in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. Roy will essay the role of the new generation bahu of the Virani family in the show's 20-year-leap as Tulsi (Smriti Z Irani) takes over Ba's (Sudha Shivpuri) mantle. Ektaa divulges stringently about the new discovery, "Krishna Tulsi will be Tulsi's mirror image. She's perky and has a warm face. Moni was selected in the second audition. She's a Jamia Millia Islamia student."

Musings
Looking back today, Ektaa sifts her milestone moments, "I felt happy when I recovered the losses that I had caused my father (Jeetendra) in my early years. Other moments include winning my first award, 'Kyunkii…' turning out to be a top show and Tusshar's (Kapoor) hit debut film."

Ektaa confesses, "I have made mistakes too. Because of my temper I have got into fights and lost out on some good people. I've tried to make amends. But destiny follows its course and sometimes the moment is gone forever."

Mission
Though Ektaa has often been accused of regressive portrayals in her shows, she says it all seems worthwhile. "Old people come up to me and say that their lonely evenings are made by watching my serials," she says. What makes Ektaa hang on even in the most hardnosed circumstances is her fathers' advice, "You should never wish for the proverbial Sunday. For when it comes, it never goes away."

Ask her what tops her wish-list today and the Midas maiden declares, "I want to be known as a media mogul synonymous with quality in advertising, television and cinema

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", Ready for Leap !
Tuesday - Jun 06, 2006
Televisionpoint.com Correspondent
Indian Television's most popular soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, will once again have more excitement & drama to offer to its viewers as the show takes 20 year leap into the future from June 7, only on Star Plus.

Ushering in with its generation next the 7 new faces will hold the new look of the show as they get introduced in the Virani parivaar. Kyunki, has maintained a double digit TRP for more than over 5 years in succession setting a benchmark record in television viewership, and is sure to have the viewers rejoicing this time too with its new look, that the fresh faces bring to the show, with this leap.

Commenting on the occasion said Shailja Kejriwal, Senior Creative Director, Star India, "It was absolutely logical to take this leap, as even after 5 years Kyunki, remains a clear leader amongst television soaps across channels, and to remain at that level its always important to constantly innovate, so it was essential to bring in freshness to the story, with this leap into the future."

Ever since Tulsi left 'Shantiniketan', the house hasn't seen a single day filled with happiness or joy. Ganga's moving out of the house too, has lead to the unsought entry of conniving- Meera into the Virani's house, which is no longer left with any sense of warmth or togetherness. Because of which Mihir finds himself disoriented & totally lost in the dismal situation that 'Shantiniketan' is in. Aging & going forward 20 years the show will bring in a breeze of newness & hope to Virani parivaar as it unveils the 4th generation of the family along with its new protagonist or the heir to Tulsi's legacy named Krishna Tulsi- a new character in the show, she will be a strong character rooted to the culture & family values which are characterized by her innocence, intelligence and go-getter attitude.

Elaborating on Krishna Tulsi, Ekta Kapoor said, "It is time Tulsi passes on the baton to the younger generation. I was very particular about what I wanted from the actor as it is a very important role that she, as Krishna Tulsi, will be playing and I am happy that I narrowed down to the best. I am quite sure she will do complete justice to the role. For six years Kyunki, has been the No 1 serial and the mix of characters will make the plot all the more interesting. Not only the new characters, but also the new sets and the new look of the existing characters will make the prime slot worth waiting."

The serial introduces a mix of characters be it the religious, mischievous, sensitive Krishna (Lakshya), son of Sahil & Ganga or Nakul, who is bitter due to his non-wealthy status. Then there is also the leader Bhumi - a spoilt brat and a tomboy, who is the daughter of Tanya & Karan. We will also see Akashdeep Saighal (Ansh) coming back to the show in the role of Eklavya, where he plays Ansh's son but in a positive role. The family mix completes with Manthan, son of Karan & Tanya, who like Meera and Mandira is shrewd, brooding and very manipulative. Living with this family is also the lovable and geek Joydeep, a distant relative to the family of Sahil's family, now adopted by Sahil.

And the saga continues…

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is ushering in the next Virani generation after yet another 20-year leap
</>

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, India's longest running family saga, which still captivates audience's minds, will take its second leap today. Yes, with the blessings of Ba, who is still alive to see the fourth generation of her family, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is ushering in the next Virani generation after yet another 20-year leap which will be taken today, on its producer, Ekta Kapoor's birthday.
The serial will now introduce a new protagonist, 'Krishna Tulsi', who will be the mischievous version of Tulsi. Speaking on her character, Balaji mastermind, Ekta Kapoor said, "Krishna Tulsi is a strong character rooted to her culture and family values. She's characterised by her innocence, intelligence and go-getter attitude."
Along with Krishna Tulsi the serial also launches a new set of actors - Nakul, Bhumi, Eklavya and Manthan, who have grown up over the years either to be an ideal child or a spoilt brat. About the long running success of the show, Ekta said, "For six years Kyunki has been the number one serial. The mix of characters will make the plot even more interesting. Not only the new characters, but also the new sets and the new look of the existing characters will make the prime slot worth waiting."
All the artistes' - old and new - were excited about the serial's 20-year leap. Hiten Tejwani, better known as Karan explaining the new family scenario said, "All the brothers are separated (as the property is divided), but still live in Shantiniketan. The upper floor belongs to the rich brother (Karan), while the floor below belongs to Sahil, the poorest of all." Speaking about his character, he said, "There are a lot of changes in my character. I have slowed down a lot. It is a more matured kind of role that I play now."
Former Miss India Earth, Resshmi Ghosh, the one who plays the role of Bhumi, from the new generation, looking rather excited about her new role said, "My uncle is Jeetandraji's friend. He informed me about the auditions. I gave it a shot and here I am." Resshmi, has already bagged the central role in two films, but still considers TV as the best profession.
With the new generation Sudha Shivpuri, Ba gets a new added accessory — a walking stick. About her role she says, "In real life, I'm 68 years old, while in the serial I'm already 108." About the feasibility of such a character, she says, "I know that I'll be there for the initial episodes but I may not live for the further ones. Ekta will decide that."

Character Sketch
Manthan, played by Amit Tandon, is Karan and Tanya's son. He's an over confident cool dude who never misses an opportunity to insult his cousins Nakul and Lakshya. He's very close to Bhumi, his sister.
Eklavya, played by Akashdeep Sehgal (yes he is back) is Ansh's son. This good boy will later turn into a villain when he finds out that Tulsi killed his father.
Bhumi, played by Resshmi Ghosh, is Karan and Tanya's daughter. She's a spoilt brat who's very tomboyish. She has loads of attitude, is outgoing loves to do evil things, just for fun.
Nakul, played by Naman Shaw is Sahil and Ganga's son. He's a neglected child, who has a huge inferiority complex. He's a silent person.
Joydeep, played by Manav Vij is Sahil's adopted son. He is a very sweet innocent character and will marry Bhumi later.
Krishan Tulsi, the mischievous younger version of Tulsi is the surprise package of the show. To know more about her, tune in to Star Plus, at 10:30 pm.

So , what are u waiting for? Feel free to discuss whatever u feel like discussing, esp. after tonights episode is aired.

PS: Keep it clean! All other topics regarding the topic will b closed, to keep everything more organized and under one thread

Cheers,

Eisha
