She reveals, "I was shooting in the Ganges for close to four hours. The water was freezing cold, and I had to keep standing in it for my scenes. Anyways I've always had problems with my back, as after both my pregnancies, I returned to work in three days time. I always ignored the pain and didn't realise that over time, my back became quite sensitive and prone to injuries." Smriti's back got worse in the cold condition and she had to resort to pain-killing injections and physiotherapy. Smriti on wheels Rather than taking bed rest on returning home, Iraani put herself in a wheel chair and continued shooting. "For a period of 24 hours, I was in bed, then the next evening I put myself in a wheel chair and went to shoot. I have been wearing a belt to support my back for the last 10 days." After this mishap Smriti has decided to take her health seriously. "I guess it's high time I look after my well- being. For the last six years, I have been working non-stop without taking a break. When I was injured, only my family was around to look after me. Some fans were kind enough to drop in and check on me. But I think I have an added responsibility of making sure I don't take my body for granted." Immigration check Even though she's in pain, the one thing that's making her smile is the response to her play. "I was in Dubai before coming to Tanzania. What surprised me was the fact that the immigration officers in both the countries walked up to me and said hello. It's quite a surprise that people in such far-off places know Kyunki and relate to Tulsi." Even though she's in Tanzania, which she is visiting for the first time, she has been advised against doing any sight seeing. "I am resting as the doctors have prescribed and am just doing one show at a time." Smriti is scheduled to fly to London for the play before returning back to the city. |
