You can't miss her in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi…' She is the girl with the large expressive eyes and long, beautiful tresses. In reality, Shilpa Saklani ('Ganga' of 'Kyunki Saas…) looks much younger, prettier and slimmer than she appears on the small screen. She's bubbly, talkative and full of fun. Interestingly Shilpa began her acting career with a film 'Tere Liye' which didn't fare well at the box office. The other option was TV serials where she excelled. Her first serial was Cinevista's 'Chand Ka Tukda' on Zee TV, followed by 'Kyunki Saas...'
Shilpa's tryst with glamour began accidentally three years ago while studying at HR College, Mumbai. She was shopping at a store when a model coordinator approached her. Recalling that day she says, "I was shopping when this gentleman came up to me and said 'Why don't you do a hair commercial?' I found that man damn weird, so I politely smiled and went away. He said, 'I'm really serious. I'm a model coordinator and I do production. You have lovely hair and you must do a hair commercial.' He gave me his card and told me to ask my mom to call him if I was scared to talk to him. My mother eventually did call him and I ended up doing the Sunsilk commercial."
'Kyunki Saas…' has been tremendous. I realized even if you do a small role in a Balaji serial, you get noticed and appreciated, if portrayed well."
On the other hand Shilpa says in real life she's quite unlike her character 'Ganga' in 'Kyunki Saas...' "Ganga is a very bold and self righteous character who would hold a guy's collar and say, 'Don't you dare do this to me!' I don't think I can be like that. Primarily I wouldn't get into a situation like that. I'm a woman of today who is savvy and who knows what is right and wrong."
There's no doubt that this young actress belongs to the natural school of acting.
