As far as film stars go, Salman Khan has 'it'. As far as television stars go, Iqbal Khan has 'it' in close measure. This hunk has always been hugely popular with his rock-star image as Angad on Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai; and now, his newest guise as Shaurya in Kavyanjali has caused his fanclub to swell by numbers. With two daily shows how does Iqbal manage to give his undivided attention to his work, his girlfriend and above all, to himself? Here's how…
1. Mera Number aa gaya (10:30 am)
Iqbal has a bad habit of getting to the sets on time. "I don't like to keep people waiting for me," he shrugs, characteristically, as he leaves his newest acquisition, a Hyundai Accent, waiting in the parking lot. His car contains his world – from his clothes to his shoes, to his odds and ends – it's all in here. But if you need to know, Iqbal is not half as proud of his car as he is about its number plate: 786 – the bismillah number, and a very auspicious one for Muslims.
2. Fists of steel (1:00 pm)
Iqbal has just discovered that his shoot has been delayed by a few hours, so he intends to make the most of his time. He heads for his vanity van to work out. The weights and work-out bench travel with him everywhere he goes. "I've not entered a gym in the last eight months," he complains. But we're not complaining, as we ogle his physique. Iqbal says he tries to work on his biceps, triceps, shoulders and chest. Job well done!
3. Tiffin Talk (1:00 pm)

4. The foundation of the craft (1:30 pm)
Time to start rolling. "It takes me exactly six minutes to get ready to face the camera," says this 'simple Kashmiri boy', as he likes to call himself. "I'm not a 'retrosexual' or a 'metrosexual' city boy," he waves the nomenclature off. In fact, Iqbal's personal wardrobe is stocked simply with jeans and regular shirts. The only time he wears a snug T-shirt is when he works out.
5. At the vanguard ( 2:00 am)
Iqbal meets the usually reticent Gauri Pradhan on the sets. "She is Hiten's wife and he is a friend. I get along well with her because like me, she too is very professional about her work." They walk together towards the sets, and to long gruelling hours of shooting. Such is the life of an actor. But can you hear Iqbal complain? Not a whisper.
