Even before the completion of his first directorial venture, Lotus Dreams, actor Akashdeep Saigal reveals that a second film is in the pipeline.
Akashdeep Saigal
Titled Parwana — Mad, he claims it is a psychological thriller, and will see him facing the camera as the main lead.
"Working with children for Lotus Dreams was a great experience. Presently, we're in the post-production stages and hope to finish it soon. I've already rolled out the first draft for Parwana."
Tracing a misfit
The actor says Parwana was conceived even before Lotus Dreams happened. Says Saigal, "I wanted to make a short children's film, so went ahead with it and shelved Parwana for some time."
The plot revolves around a screenplay writer — a misfit in society, who is rejected by friends, family and the film industry. The conflict arises when he ventures out to make his mark after overcoming the obstacles.
Says Saigal, "This character-driven plot will also have certain elements of dark humour in the course of action. The very fact that his near and dear ones do not respect his ideas will push him to the edge, and eventually, he'll be successful."
Kyunki… days
When quizzed about his inspiration, the actor says, "I'm a major film buff. You can even call me a fanatic, as I have to watch at least two films every night, before going to bed. Since I literally feed on films, ideas keep playing in my mind all the time. I started penning the script when I was shooting for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, as Ansh. After coming back home, I would religiously sit down and write out scenes."
Parwana — Mad is scheduled to hit the floors in March next year. Saigal is yet to finalise his actors, but wants to cast Sushmita Sen, Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal and Boman Irani. "I'm planning a casting coup of sorts. I'm playing the lead role, and if all goes well, I should have the best people in the industry to play different characters."
Hall of Rrecords, the actor's production company, will produce the film with him donning the director's cap yet again.
When we stumbled upon the double R, the actor explained, "It's numerologically correct. It adds up to 6; since my number is 6, it will prove to be lucky. This is in accordance with the Jewish mystical school of thought, commonly known as Kabbalah."
