This fact has been confirmed by none other than one of the trusted liuetanant of Ekta. They said after Gautam confesses he is in the clutches of law and after much drama Harsh will surrender himself in order to save his brothers Gautam and Karan
The story goes that after Harsh knew that he isnt Virani heir, and is being brought up by Viranis he feels he owes his life to the family and decides to do something good to them when he sees Gujral throwng the Viranis out of Shantiniketan and harassing them he decides to create a drama about him being paralysed and kills Gujral as he is medically termed immobile no one will suspect him
