Yes, nowadays all the sons in laws are living as gharjamai because they have no self respect.

The conservative family is meant only for the daughters and daughters in law. The son in law can live at the in laws and do whatever they want. Noone will say anything. They can treat their daughter like shit and still the family will not throw out the son in law since he's like a god. Look at Viren. In no sense he's worth marrying. He's a hard core criminal. But, they're worshipping him.

They’re showing the exact same thing in Upma. The daughter left the house yet SIL is happily living there.
