Why Kya Hua Tera did not click?
It was supposed to be one of the biggest shows on Sony TV. And the channel felt it had all the ingredients to be a hit.
Firstly, it was an Ekta Kapoor show and Ekta had just given them a hit in 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain'. Secondly, Mona Singh was returning to serials after a long time. Thirdly, it was about an extra-marital affair, something that had always clicked with the audiences, be it Saans or Hastratein years ago.
But then 'Kya Hua Tera Vada' has not done well. It's a primetime show but the Television Rating Point (TRP) is just 1.7, which is very low. So what's gone wrong with the show? "Overall it's not gripping," says Vaishali Patil, a housewife, who watched the show initially but stopped after a point. "Within two weeks it got very boring," she says. Preeti Pandit, a bank employee, who watches the serial even today, feels the cast hasn't clicked.
"All three actors, Mona, Pawan Shankar and Mouli Ganguly, can act well, but as a combination it's very weak. The spark is missing" Another point, as Rajesh Joshi, a businessman who has seen a few episodes says, "In Kya Hua Tere Vada the guy loved his wife so much and suddenly he started living with this other woman and didn't feel any remorse or didn't even miss his wife!
In that case, they should have at least shown him like a casanova, what Salman Khan was in Biwi No.1. You can't have a simpleton get into an extra-marital affair with such ease and have no regrets." Viewers have their points. Is the creative team listening?
