Sandeep Rajora married his girlfriend Roshi last week in Delhi and has just returned from his honeymoon which was... a trip to Vaishnodevi. We asked him how it went.
"It was a very small function and one a couple of friends could make it from Mumbai to Delhi," says Sandeep, who is from Delhi. "My wife is very religious and so we did not go for a honeymoon," he said, "instead we decided to go immediately to Vaishnodevi barefoot."
The honeymoon is still pending, he added. "I want to give her a surprise in December by taking her to Europe and Canada," he said. Well, it'll only be a surprise if she doesn't read this. After the pilgrimage his friends performed the ritual for grihapravesh, "and that was very nice of them" he said.
The couple went through all the rituals of the North Indian Hindu wedding, he said: "We had all the functions: Haldi, Mehndi, Sangeet, Sagaai and Baraat."
Sandeep said he went to pick up his bride in a horse cart - but fell off it. Twice.
"I rode on the buggy instead of mounting a ghodi," he said, "and fell from that twice after the horse was disturbed by the crackers going off."
For now, Sandeep has had enough of socialising.
"I'm tired of throwing bashes. Before the wedding I had a bachelor party and threw another for my sister in law and then we had the reception. After a few days we will have another function in Pune," he added.
Sandeep is currently playing Siddharth on Kya Dil Main Hai. What did he gift his new bride? A diamond necklace he says, and she gave him a cellphone. Gifts, he says are not as important to either of them as love.
Sandeep's wife Roshi worked in Pantaloons as HR manager and has moved in with Sandeep and his family to Mumbai where they live in the suburb of Malad.
