They want to delay Rishlyn divorce.

Sherlyn comes back promising her mom she will end Prithvi’s chapter once and for all.

One possible chance for Sherlyn to continue to stay at Luthras post divorce if god forbid something happens to her mom.

Her mom’s illness puts her in introspective mood and she decides she doesn’t want Prithvi but is not in love with Rishabh either so she divorces Rishabh to sort her life out.

Vir made an important point about complete lack of remorse or guilt. Her change cannot happen if she doesn’t repent her actions.
