... says Hussain Kuwajerwala, as he speaks to Roshni K Olivera about
rumours of wife Tina being out of Nach Baliye 3
Hussain Kuwajerwala is not too happy with rumours of wife Tina being
ousted from Nach Baliye 3 doing the rounds. In an interview with BT, he
clarifies that Tina is still very much part of the reality show...
What's this buzz that Tina is not doing Nach Baliye 3 anymore?
There's no truth in this at all. Tina is doing Nach Baliye 3. The show
every week has two episodes, the first is the performance episode and the
second, the elimination episode. Tina will continue to be part of the first
episode, but she won't be around during the elimination round.
Any particular reason for that?
There were certain technical issues. Tina and I, from now on, will
perform every week. This will require a lot of time for costume change,
makeup etc. Compared to men, women need more time. Since both
episodes are shot on the same day, it's difficult to manage everything. So,
it's decided that Tina will not be part of the elimination episode. Also
there's a particular characterisation that the channel planned for both of
us. Tina was supposed to be the friendly one, the one who is
sympathetic... exactly what she is doing in the green room. For the
elimination round it was felt just one anchor was fine and there was no
need for the other.
Tina, who's a fashion designer, was never part of the entertainment
industry till she contested with you in Nach Baliye 2 last year...
I know how difficult it is to have judges, celebrities, audiences around
you when you are performing. When you've not faced the camera before
it's bound to be unnerving. But Tina was amazing and managed very well
last year. She proved herself. I was very proud of her. And now she's
anchoring. Even actors find anchoring difficult, you've got to be on your
feet, got to be spontaneous, alert. But considering she has no prior
experience in anchoring, she's doing a very good job. She's sincere and
committed about whatever she takes up. She believes in giving it her best
shot. Full marks for Tina from me.
You've been married for two years now and earlier dated for nine
years. How would you describe your relationship?
Our relationship gets better by the day.
On work front, apart from anchoring, you are going strong in Kumkum
for many years now...
It's a long memorable journey. The way it's still going on, it looks pretty
stable. We are like a family now. Everything's settled well. It's not
stressful at all, no rigorous shooting schedules. And, yes, nobody's
fainted on the sets ever! (laughs)
