Their onscreen homes are as opulent as they come, and these onscreen homemakers rarely have to lift a finger to choose a curtain or design a kitchen for the swank bungalows in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi or K Street Pali Hill. But when the shoot packs up for the day, these ladies return to a home, chosen with care and crafted lovingly by their own hands. Prashant Golecha traced four telly heroines who have recently bought new homesteads in Mumbai, and found out what makes each residence special.
Nausheen Ali Sardar: I had checked at least 50 houses, trying to find the right Feng Shui house, but when I finally saw this house, I fell in love with it at first sight. The aura and energy makes me feel very positive. I opted for the 15th floor because I love heights. The numbers 1, 2 and 7 suit me the most and my flat number totals to one. My house has a small but a beautiful terrace. And from my bedroom, I have a view of the sea as well as a lot of greenery. I even have a gym at home. I guess I could buy my own house at such a young age because the entertainment industry allows you to earn that much. But my father and I are now thinking of buying a house in Bandra, where we lived earlier! Narayani Shastri: I am an impulsive buyer. I don't believe in astrology and numerology. The locality of my new house is in Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri and the house is spacious, has a good compound and a garden below. It's a quiet locality and there's ample parking. I took a two BHK and got it broken down, and re-done in a way that it utilizes maximum space. I have a huge hall. It has a floor sitting, dance floor and even a bar.
Tassnim Sheikh: I have got this house in Versova - a 1000 sq ft, two BHK flat. I hunted for two years before zeroing in on this house. I have done the interiors on my own, by personally selecting each and every item. Everything is artistic, from the doors to the dining table. I am sure no one has this kind of stuff! I spent eight months on the interiors. In the rains, I feel as if I am in Mahableshwar or Matheran! My house number totals to seven, which again, is lucky for me. I did a pooja as well as a "Kuran Khani", a ritual with Muslims. It's turned out very lucky for me, as after the havan I did here, I got back to my 'home' (Balaji Telefilms) in the form of Mohini in Kyunki…! Juhi Parmar: I booked this flat on the first day of Navratra, as my mother says its an auspicious day. I saw the sample flat, liked it, felt positive and booked the flat. I neither believe in numerology nor in astrology. All I checked was the building, the society, the surroundings and the approach. I chose the fourth floor because I didn't want too high a floor. Coincidentally, I managed to get athe house in an east-west direction, considered auspicious. I will get possession of the flat in two months' time, after which I will get the interiors done and will move in by December. Manasi Joshi Roy: My new house is by the sea and I and Rohit will move in after two months. It's a three BHK on the fourth floor. We have hired an interior designer who is doing up the house under our supervision. The house has a Zen minimalistic look and I think I checked nearly 100 houses before we zeroed in on this one. It's in Andheri, because that's the hub of entertainment and everything is available here. |
