At present, Hussain's character (Sumeet) in Kumkum is shown as suffering from brain tumour and the doctors have told him that he will not live beyond two months. So, the serial shows Hussain trying to wrap up all his pending tasks. His elder son Dhruv (played by Vivan Bathena) is now taking care of the business and Hussain is trying to mend the ways of his younger son Sharman (played by Gaurav Khanna).
Ritu Goel, the creative head of the show, says, "Yes, we are currently working on the story. There might be a stage where the character Sumeet will no longer exist in Kumkum. But I cannot confirm his exit right now."
A surprised Hussain says, "I am not aware about this. It is a creative decision and I don't want to comment as I have not been informed about my exit."
The show also has a couple of other changes with new actors coming on board. Actor Sonia will replace Sayantani Ghosh as Antara while Mihir Mishra will play Dr Vikram Kapoor who is treating Sumeet.
Another new entry in Kumkum is newcomer Megha Gupta who has been introduced as Niti and plays Sharman's love interest.
