New characters to join the team

Most serials have adopted the 20-year-leap formula to boost their TRPs in the recent past. Be it, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagi Kay or Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, this leap was done convincingly. The newest entrant in the leap scenario is Kumkum, Star Plus's afternoon daily that once boasted of not falling a falling prey to these leaps.
Rajesh Chaddha, senior vice president and head of operations, BAG Films, says, "We had avoided taking a leap for a considerable period of time. But now it seems inevitable. Generation leaps are rampant in television, so we decided to adopt it too. A leap offers new characters to the show and gives the existing ones a fresh and rejuvenated look. After all, there are certain limitations different tracks can have."
So the story from now will unfold as follows — Karan's character (Anuj Saxena) will make an exit on April 1. Then, the serial will take a leap on April 10. Kumkum (Juhi Parmar)'s twins will have grown up. "We will have new entries, Vivan Bhatena, Gaurav Chopra and some other actresses have been short-listed but not finalised for the roles. However, none of the senior Wadhwas will make an exit. We didn't want to kill any family member. We wanted the story to progress with all members."
