Finally purpose of giving so much screen space for a new old man who met Abhigya as stranger in jungle has hopefully ended.
But what a lame way of bringing back dead father alive in KKB along with two unknown sisters for Pragya? 😳 Baba's reasons of stealing his own kids after divorce was so unconvincingly narrated and added to that due to Sriti's vacation all her scenes seem to have been shot in advance separately and abruptly!If not for Ekta and Zee's decision to give a copy cat title and similar theme for their new show (to grab eyeballs they gave a rhyming title to bank on Kumkumbhagya brand name as per Ekta's own words and are calling it spin-off), KKB story or characters actually doesn't have any scope for Pragya's father or another two sisters entry after 3 years of airing successfully.Anyhow finally link between two shows has been setup by writers as they wanted, now base is ready for KDB launch. Let focus of KKB crew now shift towards Taaliyakhil, goons, killer, Abhigya's final attempt to escape from jungle with Abhi's memory regain of 2.5 yrs, towards how he may handle villains and setup for next track..😊
I beg to differ you on the fact that KKB doesn't have a scope for spin off even now.
We have a character called Purab Khanna
I also think it's not yet really confirmed Bulbul is dead or not.
So If Ekta planned to make a spin off, she could easily show Purab searching for his lady love Bulbul and how they again reconcile as the story of this "spin off".
Well, I very well know that imagining anyone else other than Mrunal Thakur as Bulbul is helluva tough.
But still, casting a new actress as Bulbul is FAR better than introducing a long dead dad and 2 new sisters suddenly just for the sake of this spin off and butchering the story of the original show in the process.
Even if they don't decide to bring back Bulbul, they should've showcased Purab's love story with a new leading lady instead.
I know many of you mightn't like him as much as Arjit, but Vin Rana is a strong enough actor to anchor his own show as the leading man.
Atleast he's more appealing as a ML than the guys EK has chosen to star in Kundali Bhagya.
A spin off is any narrative work,derived from one or more already existing works, that focuses, in particular, in more detail on one aspect of that original work (e.g. a particular topic, character, or an event).
Most spin off shows, films or games are centred around a well established character or a particular story concept which has been popular with parent show's fandom for a long time to elicit additional excitement from the parent show's viewerbase.
Well, there are other spin off shows which are either set in the same setting as the original show like the Chicago media franchise or share the similar themes but different settings like The Csi franchise.
The relationship between KumKum Bhagya and Kundali Bhagya is similar to the mixture between the interrelationship the Chicago franchise shows and the CSI shows.
Kundali Bhagya has the same setting as KumKum Bhagya and they also have the same theme-no not theme, but the makers have repeated the same pencil sketch with different colours to create KDB out of KKB .
Well, both Chicago Franchise and the CSI franchise shows exist in the same timeline and sometimes crosses over fan favourite characters within them, but without damaging the storyline of the parent series like Ekta has done to KKB to create KDB.
Ok, there are many spin offs which don't really feature establish characters in the lead and instead as brand new characters to headline the show,but all of them has a new and exciting concept different from the original show and not the re-repeat of KKB from the start with nearly the same character sketches but different actors like KDB.
So the problem of a KKB spin off doesn't lie in the question of the feasibility of the existence of such show.
In fact, I feel KKB is a show which is in dire need of a spin off from long time as there are characters in this show whose characterization is suffering due to the lack of screen time and thus focus.
The main problem of Kundali Bhagya, apart from the weird name, is that the show introduced some more characters in the KKB universe which both distorts the previously established story of the parent show and brings negative publicity to the spin off , given that Kundali has exactly the same story outline as KumKum, atleast in the starting.
And contrary to belief, negative publicity don't do well for tv serials as they do for films.
Films are one time affair but trps for tv serials is continuous process.
Regardless if you like the film or not, your money spent on the tickets is registered as box office collections if you go to see the film in theaters.
But if you don't like a violently promoted tv serial in the 1st episode itself, you can change the channel and the trps drop automatically.
Also all serials launched by EK after Naagin curiously share the same trend of stupid beginnings with dragging first episodes.
So it's not certain that KDB will mesmerize audience from the very 1st episode.
Especially the fact that KDB will start in a similar way to KKB concerns me a lot.
Because KKB had one of the worst startings to a Balaji serial ever.
Well, KKB gradually started to climb the charts after a few months, but beginnings were definitely patchy.
And the things are patchier for KDB, as they've already been receiving bad blood from the very beginning of its conception.
See, DBO was spun off from Ishqbaaz because fans who weren't necessarily fans of the main brother and his wife were upset that their heroes weren't getting screen time.
DBO was strictly meant for Ishqbaaz fans and even after having long established characters in the lead, the cvs couldn't handle the parallel storylines properly and now it's going to be absorbed within IB.
Whereas Kundali Bhagya was forcefully created by the Zee Tv team to cash on KKB's popularity .
But choice of new characters as leads and the hint of a storyline that is more independent of the parent show's current storylines makes it look like Zee Tv has been aiming both the viewerbase-KumKum Bhagya viewers and new viewers who won't watch both Swabhimaan and Yeh Rishta.
But I personally feel that Kundali Bhagya won't appeal to the Kundali Bhagya fans because neither of its leads are established characters of KKB nor the show has a unique storyline that gels well with the going ons of KKB.
So the final conclusion is that KKB does warrant a spin off, but not the way EK has been doing.
It was better for Ekta Kapoor and Zee Tv to not come up with this laminated xerox of Kumkum bhagya with unappealing leads and instead make a complete new show with a brand new concept.
That would make things much better.
