CHAPTER 1: Buh bye Chaalu Chudail!
The crowd burst into loud and tremendous applause as Abhishek Prem Mehra - adoringly known as Abhi the Rock star - finished off his latest hit, The Shaadi Mantra.
Watching her grandson perform, Daljeet Mehra felt a pinch of disappointment; Abhi used to be really good with his words and tunes. But now, all seemed the same, like some outdated nursery rhyme. She often cursed his fans for spoiling him. If they booed' a little, he would have changed his ridiculous ways into something as divine and unexceptional as he used to be.
"ABHI!!! Yay, WOOOHOOO!!"
She looked sideway to see the dreadful mistake her Abhi had made, Tanushree Dasgupta. Sure, she was the perfect match for Abhi the Rock star, but what about her grandson Abhishek? She would only be there for him in his glory and prosperity but what about during his downfall and failure? Dadi Daljeet knew what was the best thing to do and even though this felt wrong and unjust towards the woman she's choosing to be her grandson's bride, she believed god to forgive her selfish mamta [motherhood].
"Abhi baby, that was the best performance you had put up in like... ages. I remember the time you had gone all divine and... melodramatic. Yuck, I am just glad that that hasn't affected your career!" she exclaimed, sneering at Dadi and Dasi. True, it was Dadi and Dasi who came up with the idea of Abhi singing... deep songs but it hadn't yielded as much as profit as the nonsensical songs he was singing these days. Producers consoled by telling her that no one expects anything serious from Abhi anymore. Maybe after he gets married, he could try...
Marriage, yes that was the final straw left to save her naive grandson from the chaal [trap] of that aurat [woman]. But Abhi was so entranced in her beauty and love that he had started to mistreat his own Dadi. Dadi couldn't handle this. Her Abhi was treating her like some complete stranger, he was always with Tanu and at home he did nothing but compose, eat, sleep or drink. He didn't even care to eat with his family anymore. And there was another hurdle blocking her from Abhi, her granddaughter Aaliyah, who like her brother just loved Tanu who was her best friend since forever.
Dadi felt sad that Aaliyah didn't care to think that this forever lasted only as long as they had money. She ignored the fact that Tanushree Dasgupta was the same girl who bullied her in college until her brother become a Rock star. Dadi knew that praying to the Gods won't help. She had to make some initiatives if she wanted results, but before that, God decided to help her in a way that brought joy to her but grief to her grandchildren. Tanu won't be able to be in any physical relation or engagement for two whole years.
Dadi - like her grandchildren, thought the contract was absurd but - was ecstatic when Tanu came to the house saying she'd be going to stay with her parents in Delhi for the time being. She left, faking such heartbreak that Dasi feared that she had honestly broke her Great-nephew's heart.
Abhi had gone into more or less a depression; he wouldn't eat, wouldn't talk to anyone but Aaliyah and his best friend Purab Khanna.
One day Aaliyah approached Dadi - after a very long time - for help.
"Dadi, mein apni Bhai ko aise nahi dekh sakthi! Toot gayi hai who Tanu ke jaane ki baadh. [Dadi, I can't see my brother like this! He's broken down after Tanu's departure.]"
Dadi smirked inside, now she's here to ask for help, now that the chaalu aurat [cunning woman] is not anymore to give her unexceptional ideas and advices, Aaliya Mehra has ran back to her Dadi's arms.
"Mujhse poochongi toh mein yahi kahoongi ki Abhi bewajah yeh sab kar raha hai. Mathlab, Tanu mar nahi gayi ho, Delhi pe ho, jab chaaho, usko jaakar mil sakthi ho. Aur vaise bhi, yeh smart phone, video chat aur sab kis keliye hai? [If you ask me, I will say that Abhi is doing all this simply. I mean, Tanu isn't dead, she's in Delhi, go meet her whenever you want, and anyway, what else is the use of all this smart phones and video chat?]"
"No Dadi, we need a stronger solution!"
"How about, getting him a temporary saathi [partner/ here, wife]?"
I know it's short but I hope you guys like it. Please comment and you're free to make suggestion.😊🥱😊
