Hi Guys,
I watch KKB on and off every now and then - mainly to give the mother some company.
I had to make a post today - I realized that the show has been on air for over a year now - it started beginning/mid april of 2014 if I recall correctly. In this one year lets see how far we've come:
KKB started with the concept of KumKum or Sindoor - basically saying that you end up marrying/being with the one you are destined to be with and that your life changes based on who you end up with - or something to that effect - is how I interpreted it.
Pragya - well educated professor. Apple of her mother's eye - golden child - kind of a plain jane/underdog, heart of gold - secretly in love with her Best Friend/Neighbor and colleague.
Her character was shown to be very practical, grounded, who values the little things in life - money, fame, luxury - are mostly words that describe a world very different from hers - one that she has little interest in.
Bulbul - baby sister of Pragya, dreamer, spontaneous, very different from her grounded, practical sister. She's the "pretty" one, the one that gets all the admirers unlike her sister.
Abhi - rockstar - super successful, rich, attractive singer - who came up from humble means and now money, fame, glory - all define his life today.
So basically long story short - Abhi and Pragya get married under a misunderstanding. Abhi assumes Pragya to be the object of his sister - Aliya's - unofficial fiancee - Purab's desire. Aliya hatches a plan to have Pragya marry Abhi so that she can have Purab. Great plan except Purab never liked Pragya - he likes Bulbul. Fail of the century.
Side note - its so fascinating to me how in indian serials - logic is so paper thin. Didn't anyone stop to cross reference or make sure Pragya was THE girl that Purab likes? Ah but then that wouldn't be the power of KumKum and Bhagya.
K - Abhi decides to marry Pragya and teach her a lesson for "Snatching" his sister's happiness aka Purab. Pragya plays along with this charade in fear of the rockstar and his maniac sister harming her baby sister. This whole mess is supposed to continue till Purab and Aliya get married and then Abhi will kick Pragya to the curb.
Don't you love how tv shows make marriage, divorce, love, revenge all seem SO easy.
Misconception is FINALLY cleared that Purab loves Bulbul not Pragya. All should have been better - Abhi should have felt remorse for being such a jerk, Pragya should have told him off gutsy, self righteous professor style - and then they could have had an adult conversation about what to do with this marriage.
Has anyone noticed how in this whole series till now - Abhi and Pragya haven't had one real conversation about them - I don't remember a stellar apology - remorse conversation after Abhi realized he married the wrong girl for the wrong reasons. If anything he got mad at Pragya for not telling him the truth sooner - like he would have listened to her!
So basically we've had a year of Abhi and Pragya being married - Abhi using her as a punching bag, not treating her properly for the most part and Pragya quietly going about her duties, falling in love with him along the way and Aliya/Tanu constantly hatching scheme after scheme to either humiliate Pragya or harm Bulbul and getting away with it every time.
So my question is - what exactly is the story of KKB - is it about how good will always be troubled by bad.
Or how regardless of who u get married too - you're marriage will define your bhagya?
I'm so confused. Sorry for the rant guys.
