Wasn't it shown earlier that Abhi had several girlfriends? Why then this sudden love for Tannu?
Or is he just clinging to the thought of marrying Tannu in an effort to get away from the marriage being forced on him by Daadi and Aaliya?
Also, Pragya is much prettier than him in his weird wigs, he should not be calling her behenji :(

Tannu is his steady GF for 8 months or so for now. He said that when he went to propose to her. I think Tannu was his only option when marriage issue came up.

I agree I do not understand why all of a sudden so much love for Tannu??? Initially I thought they were both just playing each other😕 And also Pragya is very beautiful I do not understand why everyone in the serial keeps calling her behenji 😡Anyone who wears glasses or salwar suits does not mean they are any different then a person wearing a jeans and a top. Such derogatory and cheap stereotype of these Hindi Dramas that will never ever change!

@soapwatcher & @halifax sriti/pragya had tweeted that they were trying to get rid of this steteotype of girls who wear specs and dress moderately being called behenji. By having pragya dress moderately and then show her overcoming all the difficulties that life throws at her... Its time for 'the behenji' to rise and shine

Ah! Get it :) Tannu is his convenience, Pragya is his majboori.
And it will be nice to see him fall head over heels for someone who is so unlike what he typically goes for!

But, I agree with your -- what I perceive as mostly rhetorical -- question. Why then this sudden love for Tannu? Yes, he was dating her. Yes, he proposed to her. Yes, when she rejected his proposal, he was angry because she placed her career ahead of their relationship, not exactly heart-broken. Yet, when Tannu came around and tore her contract, he didn't really entertain her though Aliya and he did have a discussion about rejecting the girls that Dadi proposed for a year until Tannu's contract period expired.

Or, is this alleged love for Tannu a sub-conscious attempt to salve his conscience? He is, after all, marrying a lady under the wrong pretext. As he said, he wouldn't have done this to any lady. He wants to convince himself of the nobility of his act by painting her the darkest shade of black. It's not enough that she is an alleged gold-digger. It's not enough that she is the lady who separated him from his best friend-cum-brother. It's not enough that she is the lady who stole his sister's love. She has to be the one who not only mocks his "Happy Love" song, but also also deprived him of his "Happy Love". Ergo, he has to be in love with Tannu.

PS: I have started watching the show only over the past couple of weeks. So, I could be wrong in my understanding of the way the creatives have sketched the characters thus far.

What you say may be absolutely right, Abhi might just need to blacken Pragya so much as to hate her beyond reason, anyway he came across as a jackass, arriving at the wedding with his girlfriend, calling Tannu on the phone when his newly wedded wife was shedding copious tears. Waiting for the day when he lives to rue all this and is guilt struck to the sky and beyond.

I have been watching the show from the beginning and there has been no love lost bet Tannu and Abhishek Prem. Purab has had to fight Abhi's over zealous girlfriends off of his best friend hence the original misunderstanding bet Purab and Bulbul that Purab is the player. This sudden change in Abhi's affections midstream had me worried ;) and confused but ah, it won't last long for poor Abhisbek Prem will soon realize his folly and slip headlong into happy, happy love with his charmingly bespectacled wife :)
