Colonel Brandon and John Willoughby

this show is based on the story Sense And Sensibility and according to many Suresh is the

Colonel Brandon of this show means the guy whom marianne, the younger sister (bulbul in this case) marries after she is being rejected by the rich spoiled brat whom once she loved!! however she does not reject him because of his looks but because he is boring!!

where on the other hand purab is being considered as the John Willoughby of this show
the casanova who charms marianne and everyone warns her about him being the ''bad guy'' but she does not pay heed to anyone and later john dumps her and she marries Brandon!!

so more or less everyone is confused that who is who means who will be brandon and who will be john

so here are the two characters...you guys decide how much can you relate

Colonel Brandon (suresh) He's dignified and well-to-do, but beyond that, we don't get much from first impressions. He is calm, patient and loyal. He is very helpful to others but he doesn't seem to have any family to speak of. His first love was Eliza whose death made him turn into a serious person!! later on he falls in love with marianne

John Willoughby (purab) Willoughby is one serious player. He's a major pick-up artist, and he seems to leave a trail of broken hearts wherever he goes.He's a real Casanova, and his charm works immediately on impressionable, romantic girls like Marianne. Even sensible Elinor (pragya in this case) is taken in by him for a while
On the outside, he's everything Marianne dreams of - handsome, poetry-loving, musical, and supposedly rich. On the inside, though, he's riddled with problems, like debt, unfaithfulness, and general debauchery.

All the characters are different from each other...colonel was in love with someone else and after her tragic death he became serious...while suresh is in love with bulbul...he hasn't faced anything tragic...his character is the same from the start...for some reason I find a similarity in purab and colonel...purab mysterious...we still don't know why he loves abhi so much...is he indebted by abhi..who is the girl abhi is talking about...etc things are yet to be revealed...colonel and purab are serious well to do...so somewhere I will say both suresh n purab have shades of colonel

both suresh and purab's character has similarities with brandon

suresh is calm and boring, he was in military then got back, friends with the elder sister!!!

purab is calm, doesnt have a family to speak of, we dont know his past so cant comment on that

ekta said that she modified the characters where it was needed but suresh does not go with brandon🤔 as brandon was a dignified and attractive man.. it was only his personality that was that of a serious boring man and that he was waay older than marinne. so maybe she modified him!!
but then again who is purab?? he is definitely not John anyone can say that
john was more of a Casanova type and a spoiled brat but purab is not at all a casanova if he was so then he would have had flirted with the girls who came for help to him regarding abhi!!🤔

so we have in a way two brandon 😆 who is john then?? 😕

and i really hope Ekta does not turn purab into john and spoil the show!!!😡

Interesting observations. I was thinking the same. Suresh is supposed to be Colonel Brandon but I do not see him as the character at all...as I mentioned in a post on another thread, I also don't see the chemistry. Purab seems a very likable man who is not in the least bit interested in BulBul but that was not the case with Willoughby. Willoughby could turn out to be the man who deceived Suresh's sister...you never know.

yeah that is what confusing me

Suresh is not brandon

brandon was old but he had his own charm even in the movie that role was played by Alan Rickman
who himself is a dignified man!! Brandon turned serious bcaz of the tragic death of his first love but as far as we know suresh dosent have a past like that as his first love was bulbul moreover suresh is not the serious guy type he is funny actually 😆 making the 😃 face lol!

and as far as purab is concerned he is definitely not John because as far he has been shown he is not the flirt type and in the story marianne falls in love with him in the first sight but here tou bulbul actually disliked him in the first sight!!

maybe John is not introduced yet *hopefully*

But on that ONE NOTE that Even Sensible Elinor (here Pragya) was taken in by John for a while.

Pragya did fell for Suresh for a while ... so may he Suresh is d John but with a EKTA-ish TWIST.

As kumkum bhagya is story of middle class, she might have changed it from Casanova to a not so charming but heart of Gold, whom one can love easily.

So here Its not Marianne (Bulbul) who loves John (Suresh) but a role reversal ... John is in Love with Marianne 😳 & Brandon isn't old but young ... Rest every Brandon traits I can find in Purab. & not to forget, Bulbul too find him hot good looking etc etc, but as of for now she's misunderstood him. As soon as it all gets over, she is going to fall for him hard. 😳

I personally feel Ekta has deliberately mixed up the character traits of all her male leads just to throw us off and not have us referring to the book.
