"Bulbul didn't agree to the marriage!" Abhi's tone was accusing as he stood up, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.

"No." Dadi placed the receiver down softly and sat down in her favourite arm-chair. She was getting too old for these games. "Suresh has not agreed either."

She hid her amusement as her favourite damaad - well, the only damaad till date, but that was going to change soon, if she had her way - sat back down facing her, his eyes wide, mouth agape. He swallowed once, then shook his head slightly as if clearing his thoughts.

"Then why did you lie?"

Ah. This was precisely why she liked this munda so much. Straight to the point. "I did not lie." At his raised eyebrows, she could no longer repress the twinkle in her eyes. "Well, not exactly lied. I just pre-empted the truth".
