Abrupt end for Kulvaddhu

In a sudden move, Sony has decided to yank Kulvaddhu off air. The production house, Maverick, has been given two weeks notice to fold up the show.

This is a significant move, as after Sandiip Sikcand took over as the channel's chief creative director, this was the first soap that aired post his appointment.

He was majorly involved in Kulvaddhu to the extent of even overseeing the editing sessions for the initial episodes.

Kulvaddhu is also the first soap from actor-turned-producer Anuj Saxena's production house, Maverick.

Taken aback

It is learnt that on Tuesday evening, a production staffer who was in the channel's office at Malad for a routine meeting, was suddenly told by the channel that they have decided to stop Kulvaddhu.

It took the Maverick staffer by complete surprise. No specific reason has been given to the production house except that it is a management decision.

Sources admit Saxena was not personally informed about the channel's decision to end the show. Incidentally, Saxena has had a good rapport with the channel as he had featured in Kkusum, which was the channel's driver once upon a time.

When asked about Kulvaddhu going off air, Saxena preferred a "no comments" stance.

Low TRPs

Inquiries with Sony revealed that Kulvaddhu had indeed been axed. It was described as a channel decision due to the low viewership ratings.

This premise of the channel is strange, considering none of their other shows like the recently launched Jeete Hai Jiske Liye, Durgesh Nandinii, Kaajjal and the long-running Ek Ladki Anjaani Si have not had great stakes in grabbing the eyeballs, as said in television parlance.

Kulvaddhu, which airs at 8.30 pm, was launched with great fanfare on Christmas Day last year.

This saga about the protagonist Niyati started as story of a happy-go-lucky girl whose life gets caught on the wrong side of fate.

The cast includes Daljeet Kaur, Milind Gunaji, Kitu Gidwani, Sushmita Mukherjee, Sachin Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Suhasini Mulay, Surbhi Tiwari and Manasi Varma.

So what will replace Kulvaddhu? Though no names have been tossed, Smriti Z Iraani's Viruddh is slated to air later in the month.

The Show has just started and its pretty interesting, how can they end the show so soon [:-s] As Jaani said lets Wait for the Inside Info, Lets c whts the actual Matter 😭

I wish it had been ELAS instead of Kulvaddhu. With Sachin Sharma's entry I thought the show was doing well. Sachin Sharma and Daljit make a great couple with excellent chemistry.
Where as ELAS is going down the drain. ( No offence to ELAS fans). Why couldn't they get rid of that show.

SONY is making the wrong decison and this time its not the TRP's.

what's wrong with Sony 😡 😡 !!! why can't they replace ELAS instead? That's gone down the drain since the exit of Kanchi Kaul. Kulvaddhu is a new show, i dont know about TRPs but every show should be given the chance to progress....its too soon to end the show!! This can't happen 😡 !!

I read somewhere that Kulvadhu team doesn't let Sandip Sickand interfere whereas all other production houses listen to him. He wanted Niyati to turn into 'Ichadaari nagin'😆 in Kulvadhu which was rejected but in Kajjal he was successful in adding Sidh baba elements.

ELAS was slated to end but for some weird reasons it has got extension. TKTG was also slated to end but I guess since it and Durgesh Nandini have same production houses must have got extension.

Sandip Sickand might have experience but he doesn't have the education to cope with competitive world of CEOs.

Kulvaddhu doesn't have low TRPs.

Kajjal and Kulvaddhu are the two popular shows on sony.

Why don't they end ELAS crap🤢😡.........and Rishton Ki Dorr.......that show s****s big time🤢

Kulvaddhu has been getting really good feedbacks from day one.......and sony is telling us that the show is not doing well.........give me break Sony ppl😡🤢

Is it possible because I have been reading in ELAS posting that ELAS is going to be end in mid March. But someone posted Karishma Tanna's interview and she clearly said that ELAS is not going to be end soon.I meant to post that but did not get chance.

But after reading about this show going off the air, I felt like to post it.
