I am dating Balaji right now"
"Marriage tames a man" says Akashdeep Saigal

f you are not a fan, you just have to meet him once, to become one! His charm is infectious. With delectable and endearing qualities like a Herculean body and height, he also impresses you with his wit and zest. He may be television's biggest rogue, but the onscreen Ansh nevertheless has a fan following that only keeps increasing, in spite of him not being on the show 'Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'.
T.V. artist, film actor, former state level football player, graduate in Egyptology, sound engineer, winner of Gladrags Manhunt contest, supermodel of the year 1998 and documentary film maker. Akashdeep Saigal has been there and done it all. So it is no wonder that he is planning to direct a film soon. Akashdeep Saigal (Ansh of KSBKBT) is undoubtedly an ideal bachelor.
Q: So, 'why is the hottest star on television still single,' is probably what every one is wondering…
A: "I am dating Balaji right now (laughs). I have no time at all. I am shooting for Balaji telefilms 24*7. And I am also preparing for my directorial debut soon. So I have a lot to do right now. Probably when I start direction and am out of television, I will have the time for a girlfriend."
Q: Whoa!! So does it mean that directing a film is less taxing than working in Balaji?
A: "No, no. I mean, when I am directing I can take my girl on the sets and spend some time with her. But I can't tag her along to Balaji all the time, can I? I like to give my 100% to everything I do. So if I am in a relationship, I would like to give her my 100%, and not leave her aside all the time."
Q: Do you think you are an ideal bachelor?
A: I don't know. I haven't thought of it actually. It was only when you said that I am one that I started wondering…
Q: And what about an ideal husband?
A: Oh yes! I am pretty sure about that. I am very confident that I will make a very good husband. Life changes after marriage you know, and I am very prepared for that change.
Q: What kind of a girl do you want? I mean what qualities would you want in your girl?
A: I don't think I can say that I want my girl to be like this and not like that…etc… because if I really love someone, and she has qualities that I do not like… then what do I do? Logically then, the likes and dislikes will not be of any importance. I will have to make a few adjustments and continue to be with her. Let me put it this way… we should be like fish and water… inseparable. That is all that counts. All the other factors are immaterial.
Q: How many girlfriends did you have till date?
A: Okay. Please don't laugh at me when I say it. When I was in eleventh standard…like a typical boy of my age, I joined this college, for a girl I was crazy for. Then during my modeling days I dated super model Madhu Sapre for 6 months, and then choreographer - director Farah Khan for 2 years. And that's it. So I have had only 3 girlfriends till date.
Q: What about the beard and the ponytail? Is it an attempt to look more macho?
A: No. I had taken a break from modeling and was working with Discovery, some time back. In the process my hair just grew, and I sort of liked the new look, and decided to keep it. And I guess it was meant to be. It was at that time that Balaji was on the lookout for someone to play the character of Ansh. And they thought this was the perfect look. So that's how I landed up in KSBKBT.
Q: Would you feel offended if a lady were to make a pass at you?
A: I think it is natural for anyone to admire something that appeals to him or her. So unless someone resorts to vulgarity, I wouldn't mind.
Q: Which actress would you like to tie the knot with?
A: (Thinks) Sushmita Sen. There is something about her, I can't explain it.And in Hollywood there are so many of them.
Q: What are your views on marriage and bachelorhood?
A: I think things change after marriage. You not only have to look after your own welfare, but your partner's too. You have to take care of her. And bachelor days are never to be forgotten. Now I play with my brother's kids. When I am married and have kids I will be playing with them. So I guess marriage tames one.
Q: When do you plan to tie the knot?
A: Well haven't thought of it as yet. But I think 'in another 3 years' should be fine. If I don't get anyone even then, I will have to give up and ask my family to get someone for me from my village in Punjab.
