Man who gave Sudha a new life...

Danseuse-actress Sudha Chandran was very disturbed recently when she heard about the demise of Dr P K Sethi, the inventor of Jaipur foot.
Dr Sethi meant a lot to Sudha and his contribution in her life has been immense, she says. "I was reborn when Dr Sethi gave me my Jaipur foot, he is my God," she says.
When Sudha lost her leg after the road accident in May 1981 near Trichy, on their way back to Chennai after their worship at Vayalur Murugan temple, she expected to be on a six-month long waiting list to meet Dr Sethi. But she surprisingly managed an appointment in just two weeks.
"The first thing I told him was that I'd like to dance again. He looked at me and said why not," reminisces Sudha. When she performed on stage again with the Jaipur foot she insisted that Dr Sethi be present for her comeback.
And he was. "Later Dr Sethi came up to me and asked me how I did it. I told him it was because of what he'd promised me... that I would dance again," recounts Sudha.
