Finally!! Thank God!! to you too Deepali...and thank you for this New year gift!!

Each individual update is a fragment of a story containing great big familiar themes of love, loss, and regret and, ultimately, and most importantly, hope. It's a hopeless sort of hope, but it's very compelling.

👏 fab way of putting it.

Ch 1:
The first update itself pulls you into the deep end leaving so many questions unanswered...gives the reader a mind boggling questionnaire to ponder over. It also brings out Ashu's devastated state of mind.
"I am sorry. If I could take it all back, I would. I would never give you a chance to doubt me and my love for you...
Grips the readers attention...wat wud he take back? Wat was that happened that made him lose Nidhi?

😆 if i answered that...then why would i be named the she devil??😉

Even though he told himself it was all some morbid joke, he couldn't control the rush. Of hope. Fear. Helplessness. Hope. Rising against his will. Hope...
Ashu's state of mind beautifully worked out...shows the numerous emotions wavering thru him.As readers, we are seldom interested in the fine sentiments of a lesson learnt; we seldom care about the good manners of morals. Repentance puts an end to conversation; forgiveness becomes the stuff of moralistic tracts. Repentance - is the very essence of romance, lying at the heart of much of the best fiction.

Ch2:
The chapter brings out Nidhi's physical n mental state of mind...a medically sound chapter.
Nidhi is found by Armaan in a traumatic state in a hospital in Mumbai n she has no idea who she is or how she got there.
An image flashed through her mind. Ashutosh, angry as he shouted and slammed a bunch of papers in front of her...Where was Ashutosh? Why was she seeing him angry...

Emotional memories were persistent, loitering in some remote area of brain. The painful or unhappy memories people would most like to leave behind may be the ones that are most difficult to dislodge. Guess that's y that was the first image from her past to cross her mind.

true. and thats the part her mind doesn't want her to remember and is blocking it too. yet a few images manage to slither into the consciousness..

Only he had to make sure that when she did, when she remembered the past, he managed to convince her that he'd been wrong. He loved her. What he said that day, he would regret to his dying day...

the transition from lost to found is never an easy one. This is never easy, because it is not until our situation becomes completely hopeless that we can humble ourselves to the extent of admitting that such a gross mistake was our own.

very very true. this kind of jerk will rearrange the priorities that a person spends a life time denying.

Ch3 & 4

These chapters basically unfold the link between Ashni's past n Nidhi's accident that subsequently led to her memory loss.

"There's a lot I don't remember," she said hesitantly.

As if sensing her turmoil, he pulled away. He stared down at her, his eyes suddenly troubled and guilty. He blinked and that expression was gone. Had she imagined it? Probably. What would he have to feel guilty over?

😈 sabr

What terrible trigger for such guilt lies deep in his sub-conscious mind? Though no doubt some would say that, indeed, it may be some demon of conscience. A deeply buried guilt for some unforgivable depravity.

take a random guess and let me know the kind of depravity na...😉

And why is that she remembered all the dreams that they had dreamt together but has forgotten all the moments when those dreams turned into a reality?
Again y??
Going 'home' does not jog her memory n has no idea when n how she got married . All she remembers is her childhood friend Ashu n Armaan
Ur research on Amnesia n it's diff forms deserves a huge round of applause. The story is medically sound n believable.

you are the only one who said that. I have the name of a great doctor included in my name now. so want to be really careful about what i write..esp the med aspects.

Rangas explanation in the next update again pinpoints to the fact that Ashu may just not want Nidhi to remember a part from their past thou he admits he made a mistake n probably has no explanation for his behaviour which may have triggered the series of incidents that led to Nidhi's accident.

or the explanation he has still doesn't completely justify his behavior. even that is a possibility i think. i don't know. still haven't figured it out.😆

Every timeshe tries to take a step towards her future , some mystery from the past completely scrambles her present state of mind.

that is correct. she hurts more at the thought of his pain than her own confusion at the lost memories.

"I know. That's why this one is this size. Ashu insisted on it. He said Nidhi should have only the best now. No compromise. Be it in the kitchen or size of the stove." Unmistakable pride shone out of his eyes.
Ashu was defo in love wd nidhi but then wat was that made him so angry that made him doubt his Nidhi?
Black current n cream... 😆

😛😆 couldn't resist that. and its easier instead of debating and googling the color combinations.

"She would get it back Ashu. Make no mistake about that. When..tough to say. How..no idea. But recovery is sudden. All it needs is a trigger...

What we learn through Ashu's thoughts and seeing post-amnesia Nidhi is that the old Nidhi was friendly, outgoing, sweet n Ashni defo had a strong bonding between them. Why has she blocked out her past? What does it take to 'fix' her? It's obvious that Ashu cares for Nidhi, possibly more than the old times n trying hard to hide himself from his own feelings of inadequacy and weakness, after all, something from his past is constantly bothering him...something he doesn't want Nidhi to recall.

bang on!! his feelings are more intense now. Nidhi had always been a part of his life. But after this kind of a shock...he now knows that she is a part of HIM.

He ran his thumb softly over her lips and carefully pulled her into his arms until she was almost sleeping on top of him. With an almost contented sigh, he closed his eyes. Sleep was impossibility and he didn't want it either. He just wanted to savour and live in that moment. And make sure that it was not some abrasion that his crazy mind has conjured up.

Thoughts and feelings don't always match up. Feelings are healed when new feelings take their place. That is, nothing can take away the pain except acceptance and a lot of time to heal. Ashu state of mind is totally muddled up. On one hand he fears to face the moment when Nidhi gets her memory back...the trepidation that he might lose her once again keeps crushing him every moment such that he wishes to savour every moment he has Nidhi by his side.

Her memory loss is caused by an accident /emotional trauma(which is clear from Rangas statement)she knows nothing about. As she tries to collect the clues of her past self, she may unlock the mystery of what happened to her. The painful secrets she uncovers could hold the key to her future that is if she trusts her heart enough to guide her.

as Ranga has said, all it needs is a trigger for that particular door to open.

I fell in love with this story, written so vibrantly, yet so delicately, like watching a rose unfold as ashu n Nidhi wud heal from their past wounds.
Reading the update against the backdrop of the beautiful song was a treat!

For the lovely and fabulously well thought out review Deepali...it was worth the wait. Honest!!

But that does not mean you can give your next review after my 10th chapter. 😡😆
