This is really a question for which I would like to see the writer's answer.

The Sensible Ashu (lets say, once upon a time he was)... would survive, as... though reluctantly, atleast opened his eyes..

The Blind Ashu will be blind forever, sulk the void created for his friendship...unable to fill that gap with Nidhi / Armaan or any living soul on the earth...

That situation where he said the dialogue was different. Now he has seen her true face - so he should not be thinking the same way. He will definitely live without her. And anyway before she came back he was pretty happy leading his life with Nidhi. He only once thought about her when Armaan asked him wether he was missing out anyone to invite for the wedding

Why Ashu gets so wild on Jagan for physically abusing his best friend and feel sooo sorry for her? Why cant he see that he has also harassed his wife mentally for none of her faults.Why he doesnt feel sorry for her when he claims that he loves her and she has taken so much care of him. Feel sorry for Nidhi. She did not have a married life at all.

Ashutosh's behaviour during Mallika's absence does give one hope that he wil survive.
Both his life and his libido were intact, in her absence, as proved by the wedding and the HM sequences.So, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that Ashutosh will indeed survive!
