Is Baba a better doctor than Ashu? Today, he seemed to have understood something of Mallika's motives. If nothing, he sensed that Mallika was using her condition to get her way. As a doctor, allowing your patient to have their way all the time is not a good thing.
When Ashu discovers Mallika's truth, it will be triple failure for him. He failed to see through his friend, he failed to protect his wife from his friend's machinations and he would have also failed as a doctor by making a wrong diagnosis. Agreed, he is not a specialist but till now, he has not even sought a specialist's opinion on Mallika nor discussed the course of treatment. This effectively means he is treating her for a condition that he is not qualified to treat. Is that not violating medical ethics? Also, the moral responsibility for not detecting her actual condition rests with him. While a specialist opinion maybe sought tomorrow, it does not validate his actions. So, Ashu has effectively allowed his emotions for his friend cloud his judgment and missed out on diagnosis. What will this mean for Ashu, the doctor? Won't his confidence in his abilities and his objectivity take a beating? Will he be going back to doctorgiri anytime soon.
