When popular TV characters got new faces

Replacing actors who play popular characters in television serials is difficult and it doesn't usually work.
Yet due to various reasons -- actors' off-screen life, bad equations between stars, big screen aspirations -- actors either quit a show or are asked to leave. Or they move on to the big screen.

Here is a list of the most popular leads on television soaps who have been replaced.

Mohnish Behl, Sharad Kelkar

Show: Kuch Toh Log Kahenge

Mohish Behl, who won hearts as Dr Ashutosh in this hospital drama, quit the show citing health problems, though there was apparently more to it than that.

Mohnish fans were very disappointed. But the transition with Sharad Kelkar stepping into his shoes was smooth and Sharad has been accepted in the role.

In MB, we saw AShutosh as a suave, charismatic doctor who fell in love with his intern against his will...there was a certain reserve in the relationship...they never got past their senior doctor-intern roles even whle they were in love...he indulged her most of the time and treated her like a scatterbrianed child...she was clearly in awe of him...

With the coming in of SK, the entire complexion of the story has changed...this Ashutosh is a lot more vulnerable and not afraid to show it...he loves his woman passionately...despite their difference in age, he never sees her as a child...even when he indulges her, it is out of love rather than as a concession to her youth...on Nidhi's part, the awe factor is no longer there...she believes herself to be his equal and is not afraid to express herself...even while he has a temper, somehow he is not as intimidating or as brusque as the earlier Ashu used to be...

Don''t know whether this came about as a result of the change of actor but we have go to see the character grow and evolve rather than remain unidimensional in his responses!

Edit- I hope this is not construed as comparison...I have merely tried to look at how the character evolved during two different time periods...the actors have nothing to do with it really...however, if this going to be seen as a comparison between the actors, will have no problems editing my post out!
