Was discussing last night's episode with my teenaged daughter. Asked her what she would do if she were in Nidhi's place. Her maturity surprised me when she said leaving should not be an option always or at least the last option. Things like 'my house, my life' are so commonly said and much worse too. The idea of a marriage is staying together and resolving conflict rather than upping and leaving at the first sign of trouble.

Of course, the kid in her surfaced when she added that packing and unpacking required too much of an effort besides!

Yeah packing n unpacking requires 2 much efforts😆

Janvi,a nyc post, marriage is the name of Adjustments and Love so Soul mates have to solve issues rather than leaving but Nidhi's ultimatum😳 was necessary as Ashutosh was Out of his mind😕 so to realise him his mistake that was Required.

Hi Janvis
Even my teenaged daughter felt the same...she said husband wife are partners in this world together, if the husband starts taking unitalteral decisions like " yeh mera ghar hai, yahan par mein kissi ko bhi la sakta hun" then the whole institution of marriage and trust has no meaning
Aur ghar chhodke jaane ka to sawal hi nahi uthta..kya yeh Nidhi ka bhi ghar nahin hai?
Malvika
BTW, did you see what sort of packing Nidhi had done prior to her HM? usse yeh packing to 10% is thi...

I have been married for 8 years now and have more than my share of ups and downs in my life...

There have been times when I have wondered if my partner is right for me, specially with his temper early on in our marriage he tends to say things that jolt you basic existence. But give him 5 minutes and you would wonder if this person was screaming his guts out some time back.

There have been times I have been snubbed in front of family and friends and I have wondered if leaving was an option...

It takes a lot of patience and maturity and with time i realized that he was just venting out his frustration and he took (or rather still does) takes me and my being there for him for granted.

Today the equation has matured the arguments are fewer , both of us have mellowed down.

Children have arguments with their parents even. So leaving is just for an option for a small thing like some one said something , or there was a diff. of opinion.

Wedding is an event but marriage lasts a lifetime.

Beautifully said. You have summed up my 24year marriage in these few lines of yours.

@Malvika Hi...good to see that we haven't gone too wrong as parents, isn't it?

@ktlkfan and @Libra This is the story of all our lives...been married for 22 years and must have felt like quitting at least 22 times if not more...the first few years are always the stormiest...all emotions are in excess then after all...and it takes time to achieve a balance...of course, once tempers cool and realization sets in, the rational mind takes over...harsh words said in a fit of temper are best not taken too seriously...but of course, it is important to let your partner know how badly those words hurt you...

In Nidhi's case, Ashutosh needed to be jolted out of his complacency for sure...it is not good to be too sure of your partner at times...but, I wonder, what would Nidhi have done if Ashutosh had not stopped her? Would she have actually left?
