Ok, after the innumerable discussions on the plot of KTLK and how it's devoid of logic and reason, how the characters are being sacrificed for TRPs and how the technical aspects like not having the two leads shooting together is killing the joy of watching a romantic track... I have a few questions to ask the producers, the CVs and all the people associated with making this serial...😕

1. Creative art, be it in any form, music, painting, drama, writing, films... Is always enhanced by inputs... Even solo artists seek feedback on their work, treat them as valuable and try and incorporate some, if not all of them into their work, because after all..art is for enjoyment, by self maybe only for very indulgent and self-involved artists, but by the masses mostly...and if your audience does not enjoy your work..it's possibly in vain. This is especially true for the creative field like cinema or TV where a large cross- section of audience is reached out to.
Then why is this KTLK team closing its eyes to this reality? why is it turning blind-eye and deaf-ear to all our inputs, suggestions, feedback, criticism... All done in good faith to improve the overall quality of product that will finally benefit all vested interests... The producers, the audience, the actors...?

2. The actor is the front end of the product... The directors, cameramen, writers etc etc all form the back- end.. Like a software product, it's the front-end that the users are concerned with... We hardly care about the programming involved unless it affects the user- friendliness of the front end..
The actors, being THE point of connect with the audience thus have the major role to play in hooking viewers.. Most people who watch this show, you will find watch it for the actors first, and the story later or the camera angles etc later. When you have roped in a seasoned actor and a hot, upcoming actress to play the leads, why is their potential not being used to the maximum? And why are their inputs/ suggestions being brushed off/ ignored in the mad rush for TRPs by introducing inane sub- plots that supposedly fetch more brownie points? An actor of the calibre of MB who's spent 20 odd years in the film industry must surely have a keen knowledge of what works with the audience... Then why are his ideas not being implemented, especially knowing that not doing so and putting in illogical tracks is also adversely affecting his performance..and thereby causing viewers to lose connect with the hero of the show.. That in turn would surely affect the viewing and therefore the TRPs? They're indirectly hitting themselves with an axe, committing harakiri by doing this...Can't the CVs see that it would be better for them to listen to their leads..at least at times when it's important to do so..like now? I've always read and thought that actors are part of the creative process, the team, be it in films or other media... The directors and script writers listen to their actors and value their suggestions, because the end result is so dependent on the actor looking convinced.. It's sad to see that MB's inputs are being ignored and I fail to understand why...

3. Ok, this is something that I've tried and tried to work out in my brain, but failed... This whole TRP business is a measure of audience reaction, right? It's like in films, it's a measure of success or failure.. Whether your film is a hit or a flop... Experts, critics, everyone in the creative field has always said time and over that they do not know what a success "formula" is... It could be that a story works sometimes, the casting works at others, the dialogues, the songs, the setting, the camera angles.. No one KNOWS!!! If there was a sure- fire " formula" for success, everyone would be implementing it and every film would be a hit. Doesn't the same analogy work in the serial world too? We agree that this show is not your typical saas- Bahu drama and what works with those shows will not work here, simply because the audiences for this show are different, their sensibilities are different. A mature love story cannot be converted into an illogical sob- fest just because the CVs ( or someone) THINKS this will fetch them greater TRPs. Isn't it first important to stick to the story? I agree it becomes challenging to keep logic in mind all the time, especially for a daily soap and one that's purported to extend over 3 years... But considering that it's been only 3 months since the show began, isn't it rather early days for them to be jumping the gun?

4. Characterisation is so so important in any TV show.. It's the character that lives in people's minds, and it's the character that garners sympathy, empathy, apathy or anti-pathy from the viewers. Tulsi from KSBKBT became a household name and Smriti Irani is still famous as Tulsi after that role. Then isn't it important to stick to the original characterisation at least as far as the leads are concerned? People want to see strong, well- etched characters as the leads, albeit with flaws, imperfect, but consistent and strong... Then why is Dr Ashu's character begin butchered like this? He started out being a wonderful character... Cynical, cold, closed but also confident, sophisticated, ... Obsessed, but also kind and understanding, distant, but also friendly. The old Ashu who had yet to fall for Nidhi had all these shades and he was flawed, imperfect but oh so believable, so human.. That we all loved him. This new, in love, Ashu is just sooo ready to believe the worst of his lady- love. Contrast it with just a few epis back when he was ready to go to any lengths to get that T- shirt just because she wants him to wear it. Where is the consistency? Normal people don't behave like this.. Unless Ashu is hiding a secret schizophrenic disorder we don't know about, his behaviour is totally weird. Is his character being sacrificed to make Nidhi look good? I read somewhere that people prefer to see strong female leads and male characters in Hindi serials are usually wimpy... Is this true? If that's the case, then a class actor like MB is begin wasted in this thankless role.

I know these questions have probably already been raised by more discerning viewers, ( My rookie views may come across as naive), but as a genuine fan of this show and as one who's extremely distressed seeing it going down the drain, I want an answer to them, nonetheless.
Can anyone.. RS, CVs, KP, MB... Anyone at all give me some answers?

Please feel free to add your own questions to this list..

Well said Lizzie. I want to know how did the CVs arrive at the premium amount of Rs. 50 lakhs on a one crore loan. As far as I know no bank can demand the loan premium in one days time. Even if the property is to be attached it is done only when the customer continously defaults the premium amount and enough warnings are given by the bank. Moreover every bank ask for some sort of assets either in the form of property or fds to be kept with the bank as a security in case there is loan payment default. Even if the person is loyal customer like Col. Yuvraj Sharma. And what is with the bank manager sick to the core. How can he twist somebodys arms for personal reasons. And what about this brainless Nidhi handing over the house documents to the bank manager at his residence. Wonder how many bank managers entertain their customers at home. So many blunders in one single episode, how many more episodes are we going to be subjected to this crap.

Lizzie well said... nicely written post... but i guess.. the answers to these questions.. are unlikely to come .. anytime soon..

Having said that.. lets look into what exactly has aggravated things n made it a bigger mess...

--- TRPs ... initial two months..had maximum AshNi scenes... (some were logical .. some not much) and TRPs din exactly set alight.. !! From the day Nidhi was dismissed... TRPs started to look up...and gained momentum with AshNi separations-reunion-separation ...and hence CVs hv decided to milk this whole.. anticipation to see ashni n then heartache..!! The sad thing is.. they are not timing the good moments well enouf to make the heartache.. saleable..!! But of all i know.. i know n i can see so many aunties n mummies around me suddenly very interested in KTLK and wanting to know whats next...!! :S :S

--- Not heeding to Actors suggestion.. ideally creative process is a group process.. but off late in many shows.. actors suggestions are considered interference and tantrums.. n hence.. many times.. cvs r not responsive to them

While i really see no logic in CVs decision to go so much negative.. i do understand the need for it... but trust me.. m shouting the loudest against it... lolz

Well written post and pertinent. I think they have all lost the whole plot in the process of earning TRPs.

Considering it is an adaptation, one would say that half the battle is won in terms of story/plot. But the hogwash that's been shown from the time Nidhi was dismissed is not only an insult to the original (as a whole lot of people are saying), it even negates whatever good work that was shown in the past.

Lizzie...Good post...These Qs need to be answered...

CVs overenthusiasm for Trp has ruined the show,Rona-Dhona,separation...works for indian telly and they have planned to cash on it...But they are doing it badly...

this track could have come gradually with more impact...trp would have increased slowly but steadily...CVs want drastic rise in trp in weekly basis..so plots are changed every weeek..little scope left for any creativity or nice and logical scenes..Othr shows keep surpurising with nice twists but KTLK has become so predictable...no surpurise element left...

the blunder they did with Nidhi ousting from Hosp..they are unable to mend it..and Now Trp is making them to do worse...

@ bold: Now I'm convinced they've wired all the wrong homes with TRP meters!! How does one volunteer to have one installed?? 😉

@red: They won't take inputs from even a seasoned actor like MB?😲... KP and the rest of the creative team are "Kal ke chokre" next to him!! How can he be throwing a tantrum??😲
