Dear Mohnish Ji...
You had mentioned in previous interviews that you or your daughter at times check out this and other forum websites to get a feel for the viewers reactions. I don't want to inundate your Facebook page as it is a personal space. So please...if time permits...go through this fervent appeal from an once faithful viewer.
An actor will always be known for his acting skills and more than that, the projects he associates himself with. You don't think very seriously before buying tickets for an Aamir movie as you know that give or take a few scenes, the movie will be worth watching. At least for the past few years it has been true. Similarly, post Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain (which are strictly not meant for diabetics), you have built up an impressive persona as a mature character actor in the mold of your mother, the very great Nutanji...though you have miles to go to be mentioned in the same breath as her as an actress. Her roles in BANDINI and SUJATA give me goose pimples to this day. You belong to such an erstwhile lineage. I am sure you had very different aspirations with KTLK when you signed on as evidenced by your FB messages. But a time comes when to borrow a line from President Obama's speech in Denver, you say ENOUGH...resoundingly. The current version of a headless KTLK will only damage your reputation as an actor not because of your acting abilities but because in the future, one would think a million times before seeing a Mohnish Bahl movie or serial...The refrain would be ... isn't he the one who acted in KTLK...ugh...? I admire you as an actor and would love to see you over the years playing meaningful roles as you are amongst the few actors who can emit sincerity from your persona a la Gregory Peck...Peck's USP was his sincerity of emotions that one saw through your lovely acting in HAHK and initial episodes of KTLK. But of late and esp. after the massacre of yesterday and your total absence today, one really has to wonder what more will it take for you to leave this show...that is if your contract allows it. I know it is a very very long shot and it is your decision but when deaf ears and dumb nitwits are writing the script, someone of stature needs to step up, unlike his screen character, to knock some sense into these guys. AND IF THE CONTRACT HAS BEEN DRAWN UP BY THE KTLK TEAM, I AM SURE IT WILL HAVE MANY LOOPHOLES TO GET OUT...just check the script...how good will the contract be?
Your own performance in the past few days has fallen below par and I solely blame the script and probably your lack of faith in it...I would be surprised if it didn't fall... no cerebral actor like you can buy such mind numbing BS being thrown at him and without belief you cant act well...Your laughter scene in Baba's house on new year...wow...terrible. You were brave enough to admit it on your FB and I applaud you for your honesty.
This was a mail from a fan to you. I will always follow your roles with keen interest but with a little bit of trepidation post KTLK..not sure if the script you have chosen is good enough or worthwhile for us to follow.
