Plus I think their relationship is a bit shallow...they don't share much with each other...they don't look like friends who've gone thru a lot together and know each others deepest darkest secrets...Mallu surely doesn't know Ashu and I think even Ashu...doesn't know her too well...he never analyzed her character to find any weaknesses which could lead to what's happening here...so this will be the shock of his life...how she changes...he just accepted her for who she was...and most of their meetings have been in a professional setting...unlike Nidhi who's seen so many sides of him already

More than anything she needs to get out of this Ashu obsession. She must realise that love cannot be forced it just happens.
