What after big KBC exit?

Once the baap of all shows Kaun Banega Crorepati goes off air, Sony TV will have a challenging time. With an audience share of 19 per cent, the channel is now gearing up to fill in the prime-time slot between 8 and 11 pm with fiction content. Two new shows Dekha Ek Khwaab and Parvarish will be launched on November 22, a day after KBC goes off air. "Six months ago we said that we are going a whole hog for fiction and we are persisting with it. From now on, our entire weekly prime time offering will be 80 per cent fiction and 20 per cent non-fiction on weekends," says Sony's business head Sneha Rajani. Finally, doing away with reality shows, Sony TV will have to make up for the 15-minute shortfall, 8 pm show Kuch To Log Kahenge will be extended to 45 minutes. However, according to informed sources, this is only a temporary arrangement as Sony will launch another fiction show at 8.30 pm in early December and both Dekha Ek Khwaab and Kuch To Log Kahenge will revert to 30-minute episodes thereafter. But the question is will fiction deliver the kind of ratings KBC did?
