They shouldn't have actually tried to connect it with the previous seasons. Making it a continuation, they have messed up everything.
1. The timeline & characters' age don't match. Devakshi were already married for more than 8 years by the time they reunited. (Celebrated Suhana's 8th bday almost right after patching up). After that Shubh was born (which will take 9 months) , then in season 2 Shubh was 6 months old. So they were already married for about 9.5 years. How are they married for just 9 years now? Are they going back in time? 🤓
2. Suhana was 8 years old when Sonakshi got pregnant with Shubh. How come Suhana is just 9 years old but Shubh is 4-5 years old?😕
3. Devakshi just patched up after 7 years of separation. They learnt from their past mistakes & promised each other to communicate & co-operate. Dev became paranoid of losing Sonakshi. Now 9 years of marriage means practically no time passed. So they are drifting apart within few months of getting back together again? It makes it look like Devakshi are not compatible as couple at all & Ishwari was right all along. What a way to present the lead couple.😆
And I am not even getting into why this baby swapping is just not possible!😆
The way they released initial promos & then that sleeping arrangement promo, I thought they were going to show a new story where the characters were loosely based on the original season's characters. Everything would have made sense had they make it look like Devakshi are normal couple who had a fairly normal married life so far & had their kids in 4-5 years of gap. They should have gone with that. And make a clear announcement that it's not a continuation. It's kind of like spin off, but with same leads. Then there wouldn't be any problem with timeline or kids' age or even this baby swapping. But they are so desperately trying to make it a continuation & giving references of season 1 & 2 when they just don't fit 🤔 Don't know why 😳
I have a nagging suspicion that it's being done to butcher Sonakshi's character. In Season 1 mostly Sonakshi was the righteous ones & Ishwari as well as Dev received a lot of flaks, (not counting Shaheer's hardcore fans). This season they want to show Sonakshi wrong & Maa Beta right. If they were normal couple with no separation, during Suhana's delivery even Dixit family would be there & the baby would be everyone's responsibility. How will Maa Beta blame only Sonakshi & her paternal family then? That's why they retained the separation part.
Twitter Instagram YouTube etc me hardcore Dev fans are already delighted that Sonakshi is not a capable mother, didn't even recognise her own child & still used to show so much attitude to Dev. How Ishwari was always right & Sonakshi was not the right choice for Dev, how she never deserved him etc etc. Most probably makers also wanted to have a similar say. That is Ishwari is right in her assessment. All these are being done maybe to justify Ishwari's actions.
P.S - The above theory is my "suspicion". Anyone who wants to reply me please understand I don't claim it to be the truth.
Bold 1. The drifting away makes zero sense to me, especially since they had just got back together and had Shubh. The show is showing him to be 4-5 years old, but obviously he should still be an infant for the timeline of previous seasons to make sense and if Devakshi were celebrating their 9th or 10 anniversary.
The drifting away so soon is not aligned with Dev's character at all, whatsoever. Maybe after 15-20 years, I can see it happening. But so soon after reconciliation? No way. Dev's character is possessive and obsessive(traits inherited from Ishwari, I feel), and he has a paranoia about losing Sonakshi. His possessiveness and obsession were on display during their breakup. Even after getting back, he is in constant fear that he might lose her again. This fear is increased manifold after their 7 year separation and eventual reconciliation. He went nuts after the bus incident, but backed off a little when Sona was feeling stifled. His fear of losing her never went away. He just made a sincere effort to stop hovering around her 24x7.
So for this Dev Dixit to drift away from Sona, not pay attention to her, rebuff her offer of going away on vacation (promo where they chat on whatsapp, and he says he has plans with friends) was totally out-of-character for me. Dev Dixit's first and foremost priority has always been family. He would not reject spending time with them, especially Sona. And since when did Dev have friends that he was hanging out with?! Dev never had proper friends, which was another reason for his serious emotional dependency on Sonakshi. She was his best friend, confidante, emotional anchor.
I hope the new writers realize that the audience knows Dev and Sona's characters very deeply and closely.
Bold 2. You may be right. I am seeing a lot of Sona-bashing. She is not comforting the little boy, she is not being a mother. Not just mother, but she is not being a comforting adult to a traumatized Ayush. But people need to understand where she is coming from. She is feeling a ton of emotions and she knows how it feels to be treated as an outsider by Ishwari (which Dev has no idea of)..her feelings of Suhana being alienated by Ishwari are not invalid. She needs time, as she keeps saying, but is rebuffed. I, for one, think that of all people, her reaction to this huge news has been most convincing. The torn heart, the unfairness of the situation, the uncertainty of how to respond.
P.S. Ishwari was always a little crazy, God save Ayush from all the smothering. "Dev banaongi ise" 😅🙄
