Chapter Twenty Four
Dev reached Malhotra mansion after half-an-hour drive...he was excited as well as nervous about meeting Sona secretly that too at her place itself, with her parents being around...there was no way in which he could get in through the main door...he scratched his head and started looking around to find ways to reach her terrace...yaar Dev...kahaan phas gaya yaar?...kya jaroorat thi hero banne ki?...ab terrace par kaise pohunchega?...deewar chad ke jayega kya?......he stood there all confused starring at the roof top...
Here Sona had already decked herself up, she was strolling in her room to and fro waiting for Dev to call her informing her about his arrival...she felt all jittery and shy to meet Dev at such an odd hour that too without the permission of her parents...par ismein galat hi kya hai?...Dev to tera husband haina...usse milna thodi na galat hai...aur tum dono kaunsa kuch galat iraade se mil rahe ho...sirf baat hi to karni hai...she tried pacifying herself...she also was in second thoughts if she should reach the spot first before Dev arrives just to check if the place is ok for them to meet...but at the same time she felt weird to do so as Dev might feel she's getting all desperate ...only if she knew he was as eager as her, but at the moment was facing the biggest problem of his life...
He looked around to find any support so that he could climb up his way to her terrace...he also found a pipeline which could take him all the way but then putting his thoughts aside he gave up the idea of playing the new-age superman..."Dev, beta jyaada hero banne ki jaroorat nahin hai...pipe wipe se jaane ke khayaal chod...kyunki agar neeche ludak gaya naa to haath pair muft mein tootenge...phir teri aur Sona ki agli date kisi romantic setup mein nahi balki hospital mein dawai ki stupid smell ke beech hogi......he made up his mind and dialed Sona's number...ek kaam karta hoon, Sona ko call karke help maangta hoon...ab tu yahaan tak aaya hai usse milne toh woh tere liye itna toh kar hi sakti hai...aakhir aaj poora din tujhe tadpaane ki sazaa bhi toh milni chahiye na use...he was amazed when she picked it up at the second ring...equally restless, he thought...Dev kahaan ho tum, aane ka mann to nahin na badal diya?...main kabse tumhara wait kar rahi hoon...aur kitna time?......she complained like a kid, Dev smiled internally as here he was loitering around her place for so long now and there she was disturbed thinking he might have dropped the plan to meet her...Dev Dixit jo ek baar than leta hain, woh karke rehta hai...main to kabse tumhare ghar ke neeche khada hoon...lekin tumhare papa ko lagta hai mujhse koi khaasa dushmani hai...matlab unhone yahaan se terrace tak jaane ka ek raasta tak nahin banwaya yaar...yeh pipe bhi itna patla sa hai...mera wajan thodi na utha payega...ispar main chadhunga to pakka neeche gir jaunga iske saath...help me out yaar Cheeku...let me in......he pasted a foolish grin on his face as if she could see it through the phone...Sona on the other hand facepalmed herself at his foolishness...tum pipe se chadke aane ka soch rahe the...how smart yaar Bunny...tum bachpan se hi itne smart the yaa abhi abhi tumhe extra akal aayi hai...dekho please koi bewakoofi matt karna...agar yahaan aane ka koi raasta nahin haina to tum aisa karo waapas ghar chale jao...main waise bhi kal office aa rahi hoon so wahi milte hai......she instructed him as his face dropped into a frown...like seriously?...tumhe lagta hai ki main yahaan tehelne aaya tha...aur itni door aakar main tumse bina mile aise hi waapas chala jaau?...no ways Mrs. Dixit...ab aaya hoon to tumse milkar hi jaunga...haan ab agar tumhe meri help nahin karni haina to main tumhare papa se help maang leta hoon...acche se door bell bajakar main uhne bata deta hoon ki main yahaan tumse milne aaya hoon aur mujhe andar aane diya jaaye......her eyes widened as he literally threatened her over the phone...
"tum paagal ho gaye ho kya Bunny...door bell mat bajana papa uth jayenge aur mujhe bohot daant padegi...kya tum yahi chahte ho ki tumhari ekloauti girlfriend ko uske papa aadhi raat ko daant lagaye?......a perfect emotional blackmailer he thought...ab main kahaan keh raha hoon tumse ki mujhe tumhare papa ko jagaane ka shauk hai...main to ab bhi keh raha hoon ki tum mere liye darwaaja khol do to main kisi ko nahin jagaunga...lekin tumse mile bina main yahaan se jaane waala nahin hoon...and that's final......he stomped his foot determined as Sona got into some real thinking business as to how she should let him in...finally applying all her IQ she zeroed down on an option...ok fine, meri baat dhyaan se suno...main tumhare liye main door kholti hoon...but make sure ki tum bilkul bhi shor na karo...agar papa jag gaye naa to humara yahin court marshal kar denge...so be careful ok......she advised him as he quickly obliged and made way to her entrance...

Sona carefully tiptoed towards her living room...her parents had gone to sleep long back and so had Elena...but then her ever alert dad had this habit of waking up even at the slightest noise of a dropped safety pin...she threw away her heels in her room itself to avoid any unnecessary noise and climbed down the stairs...quietly unlatching the door she was stunned to see her handsome hubby waiting for her to open the door for him, grinning like a foolish, overexcited child, who had stealthily dropped in at his friends place to watch a movie just a day before his final exams...she took a moment to drool over him before she could snap out of her reverie...
Dev's Dress
pulling him inside by his wrist, she quickly closed the door behind him...apne daant baad mein dikhana...isse pehle ki koi uth jaaye chalo yahaan se...ainwayi time waste karne ki aadat pata nahin kab jayegi tumhari...she whispered to him as he followed her obediently...waise tum bhi toh mujhe dekhkar drool kar rahi thi...tab time waste nahin ho raha tha?......he argued back as she shot a deathly glare to him, although she was internally feeling embarrassed that he had noticed her checking him out ...hand in hand they walked through the darkness as they couldn't take the risk of switching on the lights...they had to even take care to not bump into any unnecessary stuff...

They reached the terrace and quickly locked the door to avoid any intrusion...as Sona tried dragging Dev by his hand, he suddenly pulled her towards him with a jerk and enveloped her into a tight bone-crashing hug...I missed you the whole day today......Dev crooned hiding his face into her neck as she held him to herself by encircling her arms around his torso...breaking apart they stared into each other's eyes before Dev got back into his jovial, naughty mood...moving a few steps back from her, he gave her a quizzical look by narrowing his eyes...yeh wahi waali dress haina jo tumne uss din khareedi thi mall mein...jahaan tumne pehli date ke bahane meri jeb khaali ki thi...waise manna padega, itne paise kharch karneka kuch to fayda hua...tumhe koi to aisa outfit mila jo tumhe suit karta ho...warna baaki time to poora jhalli lagti rehti ho...nakchadi bandariya......
Sona's Dress
Dev teased her while she stood lowering her eyes feeling all shy...Dev who had expected her to get back at him for teasing her was amazed to see her blushing at his comments...Cheeku the khunkhaar sherni ko yeh kya ho gaya hai?...jo mujhpar har pal jhapatne ko all set rehti thi woh aaj itna Sharma kyun rahi hai......Dev thought to himself as he found Sona behaving quite weirdly...nahin Dev tu kuch jyaada hi soch raha hai......the very next moment he negated his talks...
"Sona, tum theek to ho na?... I mean maine tumhe chidhaya aur tumne mujhe palat ke jawaab bhi nahin diya...all ok na Mrs. Dixit......Sona passed a coy smile and again lowered her head blushingly as he addressed her as Mrs. Dixit...Dev passed another confused glare at her before whisking her to a nearby bench where they could sit and merrily talk to each other...while Dev continued to fill her with the happenings of the day, she kept on stealing glances at him, turning her fingers round the hem of her dress and smiling secretly...Dev who was well aware of her state, was quite confused as to why was she behaving like a love struck puppy, lost in her own world...
Dev was by now quite irked by her weird behavior decided to ask her curtly...Cheeku...what's wrong yaar...kabse main hi baat kiye jaa raha hoon, aur tum bass ek hi kaam kar rahi ho...sharma ke muskuraana...common yaar Cheeku, hum koi pehli baar thodi na mile hai ki tum itna weird behave kar rahi ho...agar kuch kehna chahti ho to bol do na seedhe seedhe...aise chup chap baithkar muskuraane ka kya matlab hua...hum koi honeymoon pe thodi na aaye hai ki tum yun sar jhuka ke sharmaye jaa rahi ho......Dev chided her as tears started trailing down her cheeks...she was taken aback by Dev's sudden curtness...Dev on the other hand felt guilty for hurting her with his blunt words...taking her into a side hug he tried calming her as she kept on hitting his upper arm with her small fists...
"Sona...I'm sorry...main tumhe daantna nahin na chahta tha...woh to mujhe aadat nahin hai na...tum itna weird behave kar rahi thi, typical girlfriends ki tarah...to maine bass aise hi bol diya...tum please ro mat ok...mujhe nahin pata haina ki emotional waali girlfriend ko kaise handle karte hai...isiliye Bunny se galti ho gayi...Bunny kaan pakadkar sorry hai......he said letting her go from his hug and holding his ears...Sona who had calmed down by now couldn't help but giggle at his apologetic state...pulling his hands down she replied...to mujhe kaunsa pata hai ki girlfriends apne boyfriends ke saath kaise behave karti hai...tumhe to phir bhi ek psycho gf ko handle karne ka experience hai...mera to first time haina...mujhe laga ki thoda naive behave karne se tum ladke khush hote hoge...to isiliye......she stopped midway as Dev was laughing hysterically at her kiddish behavior...kaun sikhata hai yeh sab tumhe...kisne kahan ki jab date par jaate hain to bass sharmana hi chahiye...tumhe jisne bhi yeh sikhaya haina woh bada hi stupid hai......Dev giggled again as Sona whacked him...meri cousin stupid nahin hai ok...woh toh mere bhale keliye bol rahi thi......Sona stopped abruptly as she felt Dev giving her a weird look...
"tumne Elena ko yeh bhi bata diya ki hum dono aise ek dusre ko date kar rahe hai... I don't believe this...tum ladkiyon ki na yehi problem hai...kabhi koi bhi baat apne pet mein pacha hi nahin sakti tum...sabko sab batana hai......Dev reprimanded her as she tried her best to defend herself...haan jaise ki tum ladke saare secrets rakhte ho...aur waise bhi maine use sirf yeh isliye bataya taaki woh papa ki batein sunkar tumhe galat na samajh baithe...aur accha hi hua ki maine use bataya...atleast usne mujhe ehsaas to karaya na ki main tumse......Sona swallowed back her words as Dev started nearing her...usne tumhe ehsaas karaya ki tum mujhse...tum mujhse kya Sona??......Dev leaned in bit by bit as Sona kept lurching backwards, trying hard to calm down her thumping heart...
"Dev, woh mujhe tumse kuch kehna hai...bohot dino se kehna tha...par himmat nahin ho rahi thi...aaj Elena ne kahaan ki aise mamloan mein deri nahin karni chahiye...to maine socha kii......Sona stopped in her tracks as Dev held her palm firmly...Sona, itna saara taamjhaam kyun?...tumhe jo bhi kehna hai saaf saaf kaho...bejhijhak kaho......he probed her as she gathered her courage to speak...pehle tum apni aankhen band karo...nahin to main bol nahin paungi...please Bunny......Dev quietly obliged to her demands as she too shut her eyes and let out her feelings as their hands remained entangled ...pata hai Dev...hum dono bachpan se humesha ek saath rahe hain...tum mere sabse acche dost rahe ho...maine kabhi kisi female friend ke saath itna comfortable feel nahin kiya jitna tumhare saath kiya ho...jab log humein chidhate the nay eh kehkar ki hum dono humesha ek doosre se chipke rehte hain...to sach kahun to mujhe unpar gussa nahin aata tha...par ajeeb sa lagta tha ki koi bhi iss duniya mein pure friendship ko kyun nahin samajhta...ghinn aati thi inn logon se aur unki soch se...par phir bhi mujhe tumhara saath rehna accha lagta tha...log chahe jo kahen, jo samjhe...
"phir jab tumhe Natasha se pyaar hua to mujhe yeh baat kabhi pasand nahin aayi...shayad isliye ki mujhe humesha laga ki tumhe duniya ki saari khushiyaan milni chahiye...aur Natasha tumhe kabhi woh khushiyaan nahin de sakti thi...mujhe yeh bhi darr tha ki tum agar uski baataon mein aa gaye to mujhse mera iklauta buddy chin jayega...phir mere paas kaun hoga jo meri bakbak sunega, mujhpar gussa karega, meri studies mein meri help karega...meri harr jidd ko poora karega...isiliye maine humesha tumhe usse bachane ki koshish ki...uska asli chehra tumhe dikh jaye bass yehi chah thi meri...lekin tumne mujhe galat samajh liya......Dev opened his eyes as he could hear Sona sniffing silently...tears trailed down his cheeks as he realized how deep he had hurt her with his deeds...she continued pouring her heart out while her eyes refused to look back at him, as he listened to every complaint of her's silently...jab tumne mujhe tumse shaadi karne keliye kahaan tab mujhe bohot gussa aaya...tumse jyaada khudpar...ki main tumhe humare rishte ki purity ki pehchaan nahin kara paayi...gussa aaya iss baat par ki tumne mere concern ko meri jidd samajhli...tumhe paane ki jidd...jo maine kabhi ki hi nahin thi...main to sirf tumhari dost bankar rehna chahti thi...par phir bhi maine tumse shaadi ki...bina tumhe oppose kiye, kyunki shayad yeh mujhe sahi laga...shayad tumhaare saath rehkar main tumhe duniya ki saari burayiyon se bacha sakti thi...ek halki si umeed thi mann mein ki kabhi to tum mujhe samjhoge...

I had started fantasizing about you...main khud hi confused thi ki yeh sab mere saath kya ho raha hai...yeh jo feeling main mehsoos kar rahi hoon use pyaar kehte bhi hai yaa nahin...phir jab tumne mujhe apni gf banne keliye pooch to I couldn't deny you...maybe simply because of the fact that I had started liking you...as a companion...as a life partner...something more than just a friend...jab subah Elena se baat ki tab realize hua ki... I... I... I love you Dev... I really do......with this she opened her eyes, eager enough to watch Dev's reaction to her confession...she was surprised to see Dev was already looking at her intently, his arms outstretched, waiting to envelope her into his embrace...all she could do was to flung onto him, and hide herself in his protective shield...

"tumhe kya hua?...hass kyun rahi ho...main koi joker hoon kya jo tum mujhe dekhke hass rahi ho?...yaa mere face pe kuch laga hai jisse main funy lag raha hoon......Dev pulled out his phone and checked his face in the selfie camera only to be corrected by Sona...nahin, tumhe kuch nahin hua hai...woh bass mujhe Elena ki baat yaad aa gayi...isiliye hasi aayi......she broke into another round of giggles...aisa bhi kya kahan tha tumse Elena ne ki tum khud ko rok hi nahin paa rahi ho?...(holding both her wrists in his palms he pulled her closer...)...ab to batana hi padega Mrs. Dixit......Sona tried to free herself from his hold, but he was in no mood to let her go...main bhala tumhe kyun batao ki Elena ne mujhe kya kya kahan?...yeh humara girls secret hai ok...boys are not allowed......she turned her face away from him dramatically, as Dev gave her a wicked smirk...ok...no issues...tumhe nahi batana hai to matt batao...main khud Elena ko call karke usse pooch loonga...aur saath hi saath use yeh bhi bol dunga ki tum iss waqt mere saath yahaan ho......he left her hands and pulled out his phone from the pocket to dial Elena's number...tum aisa nahin karoge...tum use nahin pooch sakte ki usne mujhse kya kahan tha......Sona tried to pull the phone out of his hold but he was adamant to know what was going on in her mind...theek hai nahin poochta usse...tum mujhe bata do......Sona was left with no option but to tell him what he wanted to hear...ok fine batati hoon...par tum mujhpar hasna mat ok...woh usne mujhe kahan tha ki tumse apne dil ki baat kehne ke baad main tumhe kiss karu......Sona hid her face in her palms as it was Dev's turn to laugh his heart out now...
Suddenly pulling her close to him he looked directly into her eyes thus forcing her to freeze at her spot...ab jab tumne apne cousin ki batayi saari baatein maan li hai to tumhe yeh waali baat bhi maan leni chahiye na...so shall we?......saying so he leaned in towards her all set to close the distance between them, as Sona involuntarily closed her eyes after uttering a seductive "Dev... to him...as they were above to latch their lips at one another, they were forced to part away abruptly by the knock on the door...both looked at each other worriedly...who could it be at this hour?...
