I liked the partial patch up scene yesterday esp I found it relieving to see Dev accept his mistakes.
But what I din like is Sona's statement .She just took on the whole blame on herself.It felt more like the old sacrificial emotional fool Sona than a realization.
So what else could Sona have done??
Her family was insulted,thrown out of their house and she was thrown out not only by Dev but she saw that none of his family members wanted her.
She was so broken that she had no choice other than walking out holding the last strands of her self respect.
And I Repeat "Self respect is important" Period
And yes self respect is important whether it be man's or woman's.(If Ish's desperate stealing can be justified then Sona also is justified in her actions.Come on her loved ones were humiliated,she owes something to them as well)(Just because she loves a flawed man with a lot of emotional baggage that does not mean she cannot stand up for her father).
The only place where Sona went wrong was not giving the relationship a chance when Dev wanted to in the farmhouse.(But I would never blame her even for that)Ish's insecurities had made Dev cross certain barriers which was irrevvocable with simple apologies from Dev.
Other than glorify Ish I hope makers have the guts to explore these aspects.The makers constantly focus on the emotional intricacies of Ish and Dev's bond.Given the kind of past and hardships they have undergone,they are connected more by roots,foundations rather than relation.Dev can never let go of Ish coz she is a part of his past,the very foundations which makes him the Dev Dixit.----Yeah understand all that.
But what they never explore is the dark sides of these.Ish as a single mother is so insecure that she will never let Dev have a life outside her orbit.For her she has to be the most important person in his life.Its not only that their collective past has to be the basis of Dev's identity-Always.Isnt this bad??DOesnt Dev deserve a life.Isnt that the reason the dude is so emotionally unstable.(This is the reason why she does wants only Soha and not Sona) coz she sees herself in Soha but not in Sona.
Given my experiences with the show in the past.They are going to dumbdown Sona,making her live in her own delusinal bubble where she will thank Ish for sharing Dev,and might even give absolute rights on Soha.But it's my earnest desire to see a Sona who understands Ish's insecurities,empathises with her but in no way endorses her actions.I hope makers show Sona calling out the obsession in Ish's love and dont augment Ish's over-inflated mother ego.She has to see the unhealthy impact Ish's emotional control has on Dev.(But given the recent looove shes having for Ish get ready to see infertility track part 2)
THis is too much to ask given its Indian Tv and Star value matters here more than story content.
But if that happen.It would definitely be great TV--- sigh
And one more thing. Pls give better lines to Sona when it comes to Ish,she comes across as fake and suckup.(When she confronted Khatri she acted like a typical bahu-just does not go with Sona's persona.)
