Not sure why the writers butchered his character?? Everyone has insecurities, Sona expressed hers in a calm way the other day when she said it did not bother her what happened in her absence. Why couldn't the writers show Dev also acting maturely?? They could have him sit at home, thinking about his daughter, tending to her since he has missed 6 years of her life. Why couldn't they show him making peace with the fact that now it was his turn to show up and live up to his daughter's expectations. let Sona go out, do her thing, she deserved it now after being a single mom. that would have gained him some respect in her eyes as well and then their coming back together might have made some since both respected the others situation.

what is the logic of this track? He was shown to have loved her a lot, was a family man the whole of season 1, respected her, cared for her, season 2 was all about him wanting to do anything for his daughter, so this was their chance to weave that into the track. even in his absence from the show they could have showed the softer side of him - even using flashbacks for entire episodes would have better than the crap shown. understand they had to work with so many absences hence would have been perfect to just show his good side in the scenes they had this week. if you go back and watch they did show quite a bit of him and sona together this week so why not the respectful version? defies logic.

now it seems more messed up. almost impossible for fans of show to love and appreciate his character the way they did in season 1 despite his flaws.

Totally agree with you. I too feel the same. After watching season 1 I fell in love with Dev's character despite the flaws. However season 2 has shown him to be a completely different man. Agree that due to the bitterness of separation he has brought in some changes but why to this level?
