FINALLY A DETAILED ANAYLSIS :
Dev-Sona
The episode started with a typical' conversation of our beloved couple! This kind of bickering is what I like, where it is not really arguing for the sake of arguing (okay well, in our Dev-Sona's case, it invariably is!!) but more a case of arguing because you care. I warmed up hearing the first of the dialogues... Arey, bachche ho kya?' Tum principal ho kya?'. Dev was insistent on getting inside the room to meet Suhana & Sona was trying her best to dissuade him from going in. I was smiling at the genuine concern Sona was showing, worried that Dev may also fall ill. This looked so nice & so real! Dev, stop acting like a petulant kid! And finally, it was the kid in question that managed to convince the kidult! Suhana made Dev promise that he wouldn't enter her room & Dev had to grudgingly agree. Oh Dev, its ok, your anxiousness is understandable but you need to be practical too. The KRPKAB music playing in the background was a nice touch and so was the understanding nod Sona had for Dev. It was really nice to see this level of quiet understanding they were now having where mere glances were enough to convey their thoughts. A very sweet scene!
Agree. Dev was behaving like a kid who was told that the candy jar are off limits to him. 😆
Bose House
BB was lost in thoughts about Sona & Soha leaving & everyone was trying to cajole him. When Asha informed him, BB was apologetic at ignoring Ronita's cooking & finally started eating. He was so lost in the delicious food that Asha calling out to him to gift Ronita a necklace went unheard. Now that's what I call focus & focus on the important things in life!
There was really nothing much to the scene but it showed how the family was again back to its cheerful mode & Ronita was making a place for herself in the Bose family. Nice!
Loved their family dynamics. They were incredible. That's exactly how a family should welcome a new daughter-in-law. 👏
Dev-Mamaji
I loved the scene for its simplicity in showing the nervousness that a caring parent would have towards his sick child. Dev hadn't slept the whole night & was fretting over Suhana's illness, feeling helpless reading about how she may be experiencing irritation & pain. Aww, that was so genuine. Dev told Mamaji that he wanted to consult another doctor for a 2nd opinion & Mamaji could only smile indulgently at Dev, understanding his worried state. Mamaji finally managed to assure Dev that chickenpox was not something he needed to overly worry about. He also persuaded Dev to agree to wait for some more time before deciding on an alternate course of action.
Sona watched this entire interaction from above & yet again, it warmed my heart to see her genuinely understanding Dev as a very concerned, caring & protective parent. In addition to that, this soft, emotional side of Dev which had always attracted her in the past, was making her soften her attitude towards him.
Sonakshi always liked this caring side of Dev as much as she hated the ruthless, mean side of Dev. Unfortunately, he seems to show only the later to Sonakshi even when she shows him empathy.
Sona-Boses
Sona informed Asha about Soha's illness. I was happy to see that the trio leaving at midnight was not something that was a big issue now. Asha advised Sona to not inform BB about Soha's illness as she was worried about him getting agitated & possibly insisting on getting them back to Bose House. I wondered if it was the right thing to do but it did seem to be the most appropriate thing to do & Asha has always had a better understanding of how to tackle sensitive issues.
I liked this realistic touch again by the Makers. While it is true that honesty is the best policy & one must not hide things from the family, sometimes delaying the truth does seem the best thing to do, keeping in mind the nature of the issue. Nice touch of realism, Makers!
I will have to disagree here. It's not about whether it was the right or wrong time to share a truth but if anyone has the right to keep this away from someone else. Here both Asha and Bijoy are grandparents. They are definitely concerns for their granddaughter. Sonakshi, as a parent, has the right to decide whether she wants to share the news with them. But Asha as a grandparent has no right to take that right away from Bijoy. How will Asha feel if Ishwari tells Dev and Sona to hide Soha's illness from her because she doesn't want her to visit her sick granddaughter? Sorry, I didn't find it anyway palatable. But then I find Asha to be a hypocrite.
Dev-Sona & the Magic!
Dev knocked on Soha's room with a tray laden with home remedies to alleviate her pain & suffering. I must admit, I quite like this frequent inclusion of home remedies in this show. I am a big fan of these remedies too, preferring herbal to chemical cures for small & common ailments so naturally this appeals to me!
As Sona opened the door, toweling her hair, the focus of the scene shifted from medicine to mini-romance! Dev was unable to take his gaze off Sona & even as she asked him to speak, he could initially barely mumble anything coherent! As I mentioned before, when it comes to Dev, Sona & eyelocks, I am ok with anything that's shown, miniscule or not, believable or not! The water droplets on Dev's face from Sona's wet hair, the eyelocks, electrifying' touch of fingers, arm holding... Bring It On Makers, this die-hard romantic is ever ready to watch all these! However filmy' it looked, for me the Magic of this amazing duo's chemistry always has me hooked & this time too, I was all smiles.
Amidst all this romance, Dev implored Sona to use the home remedies for Suhana as a supplementary cure. Sona understood Dev's genuine concern & appreciated his efforts. They were now behaving like a very normal couple, understanding & supporting each other. That was very endearing to watch.
Sona smiled warmly at Dev & a visibly affected Dev quickly moved away!
That was hilarious. Dev looked like the cartoon dog with his tongue tied and he looked like the old Dev. 😆
Sona-Elena
The conversation between the 2 sisters was started off with Elena telling Sona that she always longed for such times with her (Sona) & Sona also telling Elena that she missed her a lot.
This was a very nice scene but didn't have much emotional depth as it didn't bring out that sense of longing the 2 sisters claimed they had, as they missed each other all these years. Sona asking Elena as to why she never bothered to call & Elena apologizing guiltily had me wondering as to why Sona too couldn't have contact Elena if she too missed her as much? Sona mentioned that Asha & she used to often talk about her (Elena).
Ups & downs toh life mein hote rehte hain but I am fine'...I liked Elena's spirit as she stoically told Sona that things changed a lot after marriage. Her comment Tune jo bhi kiya na Sona, sahi kiya' was very telling. It wasn't so much about whether Sona was right in breaking off her marriage, it was more about the choice that Sona could make, to walk out of a relationship she didn't want to be in, which Elena felt she didn't have. I felt bad for Elena, she had eloped & married Vicky for love, gone against her family's wishes, now had a child to think about...walking out of that marriage with Vicky would have been something she would've considered many times but she was not in a position to break off due to various reasons...she didn't appear to be financially independent, probably wasn't emotionally strong to walk out, she had the responsibility of a child...all these may have forced her to stay on in the marriage which was now more a marriage of convenience than of love. Sad!
Elena cautioned Sona against the unscrupulous duo who were not pleased at her arrival into Ishwari Niwas. It was nice to see that Sona agreed & accepted that some things could never change & this duo came in that category. Hopefully this time around, Sona will not fall prey to Vicky-Mami's sinister plans. Elena's unstinting support would have surely given the additional confidence she needed in tackling with the problems ahead. Finally, they did what I was hoping for a long time now...both the sisters hugged each other with so much warmth & love. At last, all was really well between the 2.
Agar 1% bhi chance hai na, ki Soha ko uski family mil jaaye, toh please sochna zaroor'
Elena asked Sona to consider a reconciliation with Dev for the sake of Soha. She understood the meaning of having a complete family for the child's sake. Her own family was incomplete with Golu never really getting the parental love that he was rightfully entitled to & here I would definitely blame Elena for ignoring that sweet, innocent kid. Vicky was a bad father but Elena was a negligent mother & poor Golu suffered, saved only by his BigCha's unconditional & complete love. Her advice to Sona largely stemmed from her own inadequacies as a good parent.
Her comment had Sona wondering.
Exactly. Again I found Elena to be contradictory. On one breath, she tells Sona that she did right by leaving and on second breath she says that try to get back with Dev for Soha. It just doesn't gel. I think she just wants to have a support at Dixit house because she had been isolated from the rest of the family unit for 7 years. Funny no that how in spite of giving birth and being a mother, she is still treated as mindless doll who can be used and discarded as per their convenience?
Dev-Sona
Sona was in the kitchen when she heard some noise and with the lamp flashing in true filmy' style, noticed the main door ajar & went outside to check. Dev put Golu to sleep & headed to Suhana's room to check on her & was surprised to see Mami opening the door.
Mami spun a yarn about Sona missing since the last half an hour & Suhana asking for her mother and an anxious Dev left to look for Sona. Mami's knowing look as Dev departed had me wondering if she had any part to play in what happened earlier with Sona.
Dev noticed the door open too & was shocked to see Sona talking to someone, who he realized soon enough, was Jatin. Dev got understandably upset, having told Jatin earlier to not come to Ishwari Niwas. I am not sure as to what to make out of all this. My first question would be...what was Jatin doing outside Ishwari Niwas at that time of the night? Was it something urgent that couldn't have waited until morning that he had to come personally to meet Sona? Did he call before coming or was he hanging around there? Did Mami have any role in all this?
Dev's annoyance on seeing Jatin outside his home was an opportunity for Mami who tried to poison his mind about being concerned at Sona's inappropriate behavior & about people gossiping. Dev brushed aside her fake concerns but Mami insinuated Sona being an irresponsible mother as she was busy chatting away with no care about her sick daughter. Dev didn't rise to the bait but it was obvious that he was not pleased at Jatin's arrival & Sona's conversation with him.
As Sona came in, a very disturbed Dev accosted her & Sona's calm answer that as Jatin was forbidden from entering inside, she had gone out to meet him further annoyed Dev. They argued & Sona calling Jatin as Soha's godfather had me wondering. Was I reading too much into this term? Because being a father figure & being a godfather are 2 very different things. I will put this down as a creative glitch & ignore it for the time being. I will continue on the premise that Jatin is a father figure to Soha, nothing more.
Dev told Sona that he did not consider her to be a responsible mother who could take care of her daughter alone. His comment that in the last 6 years, Sona managed to take care of Soha because of able support from the Boses, though valid, were not right or even appropriate, in my view. Sona naturally prickled at that comment but what she said made me smile wryly. Here they were, arguing again, both equally concerned about their daughter & getting irritated at each other that they didn't realize what they were saying. Sona called Dev insecure & one can't completely disagree with that. It was a fact that Jatin was someone Dev felt insecure about at many levels, his closeness to both Sona & Soha was something Dev was not comfortable about. At this point, Dev was definitely not happy seeing Jatin with Sona but at the same time, he was also concerned about Soha & expected Sona to be around her all the time. Not seeing her with Soha was the real reason behind his initial outburst, although seeing Jatin with Sona was also an equal contributing factor. This time around, Sona understood this very well & hence her valid question stumped Dev.
Jo apne insecurities ka tamasha banaa raha ho...usey ye decide kar lena chahiye ke usey kis cheez se problem hai...Soha ke bimaar hone se ya Soha ki Maa kisse baat karrahi hai, usse'
As Sona left, Dev was left standing wondering at what she had asked & wondering at his own reaction.
Dev's accusations seriously pissed me off there. I wonder what he would say if Sonakshi tells him that he had zero responsibility and endless freedom these last 7 years so he is not capable of being a good father? Specially since his parenting style supports that claim.
Last Scene
A very poignant scene with flashbacks that got me emotional again. Dev with Golu (was that Ish's room they were in?) and Sona with Soha in Dev's room were lost in thought. Dev thought about Sona talking with Jatin & tightly closed his eyes, realizing that he was getting jealous. He then thought of the lovely moments he had spent with Sona 7 years ago. Sona too was thinking about the time she & Dev had spent together & it was interesting to note that they both were thinking of pretty much the same moments they had shared. The look Sona had as she looked at Dev's side of the bed was very poignant as she remembered her own words she had told him (Aap mere liye itne important ho chuke hain ke aapke alawa mujhe aur koi hurt hi nahi kar sakta'). She realized how Dev was yet again becoming important to her & his words were capable of hurting her even now.
The episode ended with both of them remembering that fateful night when they broke up before uttering those harsh words & realizing how much they still affected each other...Realizing how much they still cared.
Conclusion & Final Words
Things look like they were definitely improving between Dev & Sona, even if they were only in spurts. They still got annoyed with each other & they argued but now there was also the realization that they cared about each other. They both frequently remembered the times they had spent together & while Dev always remembered the happy moments, now even Sona was remembering those happy moments. They both were now more wistful than bitter about the past, although the way they separated still pains them. Their common purpose of their daughter's happiness & their genuine concern for her well-being was making them more understanding towards each other & making them realize that things needn't be as bad between them as they had set out making them. It was possible to have a relationship of cordiality & quiet understanding. While love didn't feature between them right now, they know they care. These come out in various forms like insecurity & mild jealousy for both of them but deep down, they know they are now hurt & had hurt the other in the past but don't want to deliberately hurt the other anymore.
Realization... the best step towards trying to make things better. Dev & Sona were on this path of realization now & things had to get better.
I don't know about that. What good is realization if people are not willing to rectify their mistakes? Dev is still easily influenced by his family and taking it out on Sona, Sonakshi is then again goes back to hating Dev and in her belief that this man can't ever change. So it's a vicious cycle.
PS - I love the title Tia😉
Thanks. 😳
