LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Sonakshi was standing in the balcony, tears were flowing from her beautiful eyes. She was missing him badly today.
She wanted to be in his arms at this moment but she knew it was not possible.
Her thoughts went back to 5 years ago When she met him for the first time.
5 YEARS AGO
LOCATION - MOUNT ABU, RAJASTHAN
A girl in her early 20's was standing on the bank of a river, enjoying the cool breeze.
Suddenly she felt a push and the next second she was inside the river.
"Help!!Help!Please save me." She started screaming her lungs out for help.
After few seconds she found herself in the arms of a young and charming boy who was carrying her towards the river shore.
"Hey!Are you okay?Hello Madam!!"He asked her as he put her down, but She was not concentrating on his blabbering,her eyes were fixed on him.
she was mesmerised by his shining jet black hairs,deep brown eyes to die for and a stubble highlighting his facial features which made him look no less than any Greek god.
"Hey miss!!!Where are you lost???"He asked snapping his fingers in front her eyes.
This broke her trance and she came back to her senses
"Huh!!"this much was only what she managed to utter
"Are you okay?" He asked again
"I...umm...ye...ah I am fine"she replied a little embarrassed on her own act.
"And Thank you for helping me.Agar aap Na hote to mai to aaj bhagwan ko pyaari ho jaati."She said laughing trying to lighten the Situation.
Suddenly She remembered something and said "Milne do us kambhakht ko jiski wajah se aaj meri jaan khatre me agai thi,samajhta kya hai apne aap ko!I won't spare him, uski chatni na bana di to mera naam bhi Sonakshi nahi han!!!"she huffed angrily
He gulped on seeing the fierce girl standing in front of him, it looked like she will rip off the head of that person due to whom she fell in the river as soon she will find him.
"umm... well... I wo..." He fumbled
"Are why are you stammering! Tell me na what do you want to say?Did you see that person??Tell me fast."She sensed his hesitation and probed him to speak
"wo actually...No,I didn't see him and I was going to say that you should just calm down"He suggested.
"What??Here I was about to die and you are telling me to calm down?" Sonakshi said and gave him a deathly glare.
"I mean to say look how will you find that person amongst so many people here, and according to wise men one should not waste their precious time on unworthy things." He tried to explain her pointing towards the huge crowd of people in front them.
"Hmm... I think you are right.You sound like an intelligent guy." She said impressed with his advice.
"Thank you for agreeing Madam." He took a sigh of relief
"Arre,Humara intro to hua hi nahi,my name is Sonakshi and yours?" She asked extending her hand for a handshake.
"Dev Dixit" He said and shook hands with her.
"Hmm if you don't mind can we have a walk together back to our respective camp sites?" He put forward his request
"That's not a bad Idea." She replied with a smile
They both started walking and were enjoying the cool breeze
"So are you here on a college trip?" He initiated a conversation
"Yes I am from subodh girls college,Jaipur and you?"She asked
"Same here,I am from DAV boy's college, Udaipur." He replied
All the way long they kept talking enjoying each other's company.
Both of them were in their final year of college and Sonakshi was studying fashion designing and Dev told her about his dream of becoming a successful businessman.
Finally they reached their destination and were surprised to find out that their camp sites were opposite to each other.
"Wow!What a coincidence!" Dev said
"Yes it is."She replied
There was an awkward silence between them now.
I think it's time to go now." Sonakshi broke the silence and bid him goodbye and went inside her tent.
AT NIGHT
It was a chilling night and All the girls were sitting outside enjoying the bonfire.
Suddenly Mrs Chauhan, the warden of Subodh girl's college came with a Man beside her and said "Ok girls meet Mr Sharma my college classmate" Mrs Chauhan said introducing Mr Sharma to her college students.
"Hello sir!" The girls greeted him.
"Hello girls,I am the hostel warden of DAV boys college and it's really a pleasure to meet my classmate after so many years." He smiled and looked towards Mrs chauhan
"Okay girls I have an important announcement for you all, we have decided that we will have an inter college badminton competition tomorrow Morning after breakfast." Mrs Chauhan announced.
Really Mam?? All of them asked in unison
"Yes my dear students." Mrs Chauhan replied
"Wohoo!!!It would be fun"Everyone got excited and hooted together.
MORNING
The court was set up for the match with boys and girls standing opposite each other cheering for their respective college
The first match was between Dev and Sonakshi
Dev was leading already with 20-19 and this was Sonakshi's last chance to score.
As soon as Dev served the shuttle cock, Sonakshi looked up to wards him with a challenging gaze but that proved to be the biggest mistake for her.
Dev winked at her and blew a flying kiss towards her.
Sonakshi's mouth formed a perfect O, she stared at Dev in disbelief and missed the shot.
Everyone from Dev's college started shouting on their victory.
With that noise Sonakshi came back to her senses.
Dev came near her and whispered in her ear "You lost Miss Sonaksh, as you know everything is fair in love and war." saying this he started to leave when he felt Sonaksi following him.
He stopped and raised his eyebrows signalling her to speak.
"You cheater" Sonakshi huffed and stomped her foot on Dev's right foot.
"Ouch!!!" Dev shrieked in pain and Sonakshi gave him a "you deserved that" look and went away.
AT NIGHT
Sonakshi was sitting near her tent in front of the bonfire engrossed in a deep thought.
Just then a hand emerged in front of her eyes, she looked at her side to see the person and it was none other than Dev.
She turned her head to another side"I am not talking to you" she said with a cute pout on her face.
He took her hands and placed a beautiful pair of ear rings on them"I am really sorry Sonakshi trust me I just wanted to have some fun winning the game really didn't matter to me."
"But I wanted to win that game and take these ear rings away,I don't want them" she said and threw the ear rings away.
Dev sighed and started searching them, after whole 10 minutes he finally found them,he picked them up and went near her again.
He started doing sit-ups while holding his hears. Sonakshi didn't like this stupidity so she signaled him to stop.
He stopped and sat beside her and said"These are for you, I heard you talking to your friend about how would you look in them so I thought that I should gift them to you and ask for forgiveness."
She looked towards him with a surprised expression. She was about to say something but what he did the next moment silenced her completely
He brought his hand up and put an ear ring in front her left ear"And the answer is beautiful "he said huskily.
Sonakshi blushed. So am I forgiven?he asked with a smirk.
"PLEASE.."HE SAID HOLDING HIS EARS
"Yes..." Sonakshi said softly" And I am sorry too" Sonakshi said after a pause"
Sorry For what?"He asked in a confused tone.
"For that little stunt of mine" She said apologetically pointing towards Dev's foot
Oh that! I really didn't mind it,I deserved it".He laughed
She smiled sheepishly
"So can we become friends?"Dev asked extending his hand for a handshake.
"Hmm...ok!" let us be Friends. Sonakshi replied and shook hands with Dev
"So how many people are there in your family" Dev asked after a pause.
"He could see her face falling and her body stiffening "I don't have a family. I am an orphan."
"I was brought up in an orphanage, according to them they found me on their orphanage doorstep."She said controlling her tears
"They named me Sonakshi because according to them my eyes are beautiful .
They love me lot."She said smiling through her tears
"And you know what,Asha Ma and Bijoy uncle are closest to me." She said wiping her tears.
Dev was dumbstruck,this girl was so sad from inside but looking at her liveliness no one could point it out.
"And...what about you?" She asked him
"I live with my mom and my younger sister. My dad died in an accident when I was only 10. He said tearing up
"Ohh I am sorry I didn't mean to..." she said
"No its okay!" He said in between before she could complete her sentence.
"And I think I should go now,it's very late and it won't be good if someone finds us together at this time. He said getting up
She nodded understanding his point.
"Goodnight Dev" She said
"Goodnight Sonakshi"
With this they went inside their respective tents.
NEXT MORNING
It was the time to return to back to her city. Sonakshi was looking towards his camp site but couldn't spot anyone there.
"Hey Sona! What are you looking for?" One of Sonakshi's friends asked.
"Wo, where are the students of DAV Boy's college? Sonakshi asked her
"Arre...! Don't you know? They left early in the morning! Her friend replied.
Oh...Sonakshi sighed sadly. She took out the ear rings which he had given her and caressed them.
AFTER 4 MONTHS
Sonakshi passed her final year with flying colours. She got admission in one of the India's most prestigious MBA College too.
It was her first day of college. She was walking in the corridor when she heard someone calling her name. She dismissed it thinking it as a fragment of her imagination, But the sound grew louder she turned back and found Dev in front her.
"Tum?" Sonakshi exclaimed with a surprised expression.
He just smiled and shrugged his shoulder.
"That's not a good manner sonakshi, We are meeting after so long and you won't say a Hi also?" He teased her.
She came out of her surprised state and said hello to him.
To adding to her surprise, She found out that he will be her classmate for the next two years.
As time passed by they got to know each other better, they used to share a special bond and then on the day of their convocation Dev proposed her and they got married.
They married in the presence of their loved ones .Everyone from Sonakshi's orphanage was over the moon that she has got a life partner like Dev.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
Sonakshi's trance was broken when she heard the door of her bedroom creak open.
She got scared"Who's there?" She asked
Just then the light flicked on and she took a sigh of relief as she saw him, she ran and hugged him with all her might.
"It looks like someone was missing me very badly." He teased her.
"Dev!!You scared me."She smacked his arm"You were supposed to come tomorrow from your business trip no?"she asked confused at his unannounced arrival.
"Yes wifey but how I could miss to be with you on this day, the day we met for the first time." He smiled and gave her a small peck.
"And what's this Sonakshi you were crying? It was you only who forced me to go so that I don't miss this opportunity"
"Yeah I know it was your dream project wasn't it Dev? And I guess it's just the pregnancy hormones which are making me over emotional. "She said caressing her five months old baby bump.
Dev kneeled down and kept his palm on her belly,and talked to their unborn baby. "Hello baby! Your dad is back, did you miss me?"He kissed her stomach and she smiled at this.
"Where's mom and nikki?" He enquired while standing up.
"Mom has gone to attend her friend's daughter's wedding and nikki has gone to her friend's house for group study. "she replied
"But how can they leave you alone and go in this condition? "Dev got angry
"Relax Dev! They were not ready to go but I forced them, look Meenu chachi is mom's best friend and it wouldn't have looked nice if mom hadn't gone there and nikki's finals are coming so she needs to complete her syllabus, and don't worry I have talked to her friend's mom, you trust her na?" She asked taking his hands in hers
"I trust her but that's not the thing Sonakshi. How many times I have told you to take care of yourself you never listen to me." He said in a little disappointed and tensed tone
"Hey... don't get upset look we are fine." She said hugging him
"Let's go it's time to take rest. You shouldn't be awake this late." He announced and picked her up in his arms and moved towards the bed.
She rolled her eyes at his overprotective nature.
"Its only 9 PM Dev..." She whined
"Don't argue with me." He said placing her on the bed. He then lay beside her.
He was about to switch off the lights when she spoke "Dev I am not feeling sleepy" and intertwined their hands and kept them on her stomach.
"Then what should we do? How about me loving you? "He said naughtily moving towards her.
"Shut up dev!" She said smacking his hands off her
"Hmm...ok then let's play a game, I will ask you a question and you will have to answer it. Ok?" He told her.
"That sounds interesting. Ok shoot!" She said getting all excited
He chuckled at her childish antics
"What do you think Sonakshi? Was our love, love at first sight'? He asked her
"Well, I won't deny the fact that I was attracted towards you when I first saw you, but that was not which made me fall for you."She replied honestly
"Really? Then what it was?" He asked out of curiosity.
"I don't believe in love at first sight, there is always a phase before love."
"I really don't know when I fell for you exactly, but when we were studying together there was something in your nature which used to attract me towards you , I loved to do things for you, when you used to get happy, it used to make my heart fill with an unknown joy too.
"You were always there to help me, to support me. You were the one who encouraged me to setup my own fashion house, you were always there to care of me.
Initially I thought of it only as friendship but the day you were hospitalised courtesy to your stupid boxing tournament, I was scared to lose you, the thought of something happening to you stirred a different emotion inside me I was feeling that my life is going to end and when doctors told that you were fine I felt myself living again and that's when I realised that it was love." She explained him.
"And what do you think?" She cross questioned him.
He thought for some time and with his eyes fixed on their intertwined hands answered "It has been always 'LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT'for me Sona.
"I never told you this, Actually I saw you for the first time when you were helping a small tribal girl in rescuing her goat which had fallen in a pit"
"That smile on your face after you saved that goat was so enchanting and selfless, that day the guy due to which you fell in the river was me."
"I wanted to talk to you and my friends caught me staring at you but I was hesitant, reality is that they were actually pressurising me to talk to you and in that attempt they pushed me towards you and that's how you ending up falling."
"Before leaving Mount Abu I wanted to meet you,but it wasn't possible.I used to pray everyday to God to give me one chance to confess my love to you, and mujhe unpar aur mere pyaar par poora yakeen tha ki agar mera pyaar saccha hai to hum dobara zaroor milenge and look we are married today."
"And trust me that love has only increased with each passing second."
He finished explaining and looked towards her to see her reaction but he saw her sleeping peacefully with a contented smile on her face.
He smiled and kissed her forehead carefully not disturbing her he brought his face near her belly and whispered "Baby! I guess it will be a little secret of ours, don't let your mommy know about my story. Ok?"
And with that he drifted off to sleep dreaming about their beautiful future together with their baby...
