I remember that show. You are right, idiot box is the same. We grew up. TV is still in the same place where it was during Ekta's regressive era. I don't know why any redemption even matters today. Anything he does, will be considered for Soha. Why would Sonakshi believe him again?

I was in Class 10 when Kahiin Toh Hoga had become a rage. Me, being a teenager, was fulltoo lattu over the passion of Sujal and was ready to support every good and bad deed of his.

It was a mere show, but my mom was too disappointed that I was ready to wear blinkers just to support the one I love..

It's been 15 years since that show ended.. My mom has managed to get that blinkers off me, but who will get the blinkers off the world of the Indian Idiot box?!

Today's hero is still the selfish, self-centered male chauvinist and we still have a big chunk of audience going lattu over his emotions and easily forgiving his selfishness...

Given that 75% of the audience are girls/ladies, it is mostly the Hero who is not expected to REDEEM.

Who is the villain in this show ? Ishwari ? Hell no ! Its DEV DIXIT.

We should seriously stop blaming her for everything that happened, take off our blinkers and see who could have, who would have, who did and who did not !

Seems like Dev was eating mentos while peeping inside the Bose house and that's why his dimag ki batti jal gayi on seeing the documental evidence. Otherwise who knows,he might have started another investigation about the identity of the father.

But I guess that was the brain usage quota of the day for him as he ran straight into the arms of the one person who is going to use both his emotions & a child for her own selfish reasons without any regard to it's effect as long as it's in her favour. Emotions me beh kar hug karna hi tha to Golu ko kar lete Dev Babu. I thought Golu was his only hope & reason to smile these days? But I guess now he thinks all is hunky dory. Soha will magically make everything perfect and Dev-Soha-"Soha's mother"-Maa will live happily ever after. I really do wonder about his business's success every time he acts so impulsively or foolishly.

That hug scene was seen at double speed by me,at least it came across funny.Otherwise it would have been a cringe fest. Simply cannot bear to watch Ishwari. But one thing,if Dev had to ask Suhana her father's name ,what was the need to indulge in criminal acts.Should've straight away asked her.But intelligence and Dev don't go together for a long time now and I guess he has started enjoying his stalking & peeping acts.

Now the question is,after coming down from his high, how will he behave?

Once there was a time that I liked Elena as a sister. But she has forgotten her worth(side effect of staying with Dixits,I suppose) and made choices that were bound to come and bite her. Even after clearly seeing the difference with how both families treat her,she blabbered everything in a second. Dev& Ishwari were concerned about only their own agenda. She can go dry her tears or drown in them for all they care.If only, she understood this.

My favourite & relatable scene today-Saurabh -Ronita.

Saurabh: Aapko ghumne jana kahan pasand hai?

Ronita:Jahan acha khana mil jae

Me:Muje BhiπŸ˜ƒ

Saurabh: Especially Dessert

Me: Me too

PS: And what's all this talks about Biryani, pulao & cake on the first few pages.Stop tempting me you guys.πŸ˜›πŸ˜†

Unlike Ishwari, he will just feel abandoned by everyone. If Elena stupid hadn't ruined her chances, Golu would have had Bose family to call his own. Duffer ne apna bhi nuksaan kiya aur apne bete ka bhi.

No worries as Golu can anytime be introduced as Soha's friend to the Bose family and they're sensible enough to love the kid as much as they love Soha.

TIA!! excellent post.
Shaheer Sheikh is such a brilliant performer. All the praise to him for the awe-inspiring and gut-punching act he put forth today. I don't think the character of Dev could've even survived were it not for Shaheer's portrayal of him. He almost made me want to hug Dev. *almost*

While the episode was a heart-warming moment of exploration for a father and indeed made you feel for an estranged father-daughter duo I just can't help but realize that it was also a neat, tight slap at the faces of all those women who'd gone through the issue of infertility and come out alive but scarred. While there's joy to be held in the naked, unadulterated celebration and realization of a father's dream, there's also sorrow and a tragic bitterness to be held at the agony all those women who cannot or fail to conceive. I don't think any woman who has faced the same can watch such an episode and not feel the acute sting of judgement. I can't bring myself to wonder the kind of hurt and damage such entertainment-churnout can cause to all those women who have yearned for validation only to be scorned.
I guess I would've tried to avoid thinking on such a tangent had the show not force-fed, repetitively, that they're portraying real life situtations. Mainly every point in the Dixit Clan defense highlights, notoriously, that this show is about 'real flawed human beings' and doesn't conform to fictional idealism. Yet you take the most sensitive subject--conception and a woman's status in society if she cannot conceive--and make a mockery out of it, too.

I guess I was somewhere hoping that Dev thinks Suhana is Sonakshi's adopted daughter and still goes on to love her as if he'd love his own kin. Too much to ask from desi tv.πŸ˜†

It doesn't take away from the beautiful portrayal of human emotions in today's episode and your heart does go out to Dev the father. But the joy is also marred by the insensitive baggage the topic carries.

I think we all agree that Dev needs to grovel way too hard to even consider ever getting sonakshi back (if ever) and i don't think he will because the show's producers love retweeting 'omg deewana dev is back, poor dev' etc tweets so idek if they themselves think he needs redemption but there's one scene i BADLY want to see now.

I want a Bijoy-Dev confrontation. I want Bijoy to say now you too have a daughter you love so immensely and cannot see hurt. Tell me now if a man comes in her life, only gives her pain, leaves her stranded for his mother, breaks her dreams, shatters her and makes her his second priority, what will you do as a father? Will you let him have your daughter? Will you tell him he's right?

Now Dev's not just a father. He's the father of a brilliant daughter. How life has come full-circle. If only we get the right conflicts and resolutions now.

ha.. finally found your post. i was looking for it but somehow it was lost in all the love posts for Mr. Dixit, I agree with all the ME you noted. cause that's exactly what I was feeling when I watched the episode today. whoa... mother son never change. I am happy that, at least, CVs kept Sonakshi true nature intact of telling the truth to Soha. Thank God, she told Dev what her mother had told her about fatherπŸ‘

The so called unconditional love you're talking about is rare and I myself don't believe in such things as they seem to be surreal to me.
An aunt of mine who's around 40 committed suicide a couple of years back as she was unable to conceive. We all remember that couple as an amazing one but it seems she was all through emotionally tortured by her in-laws and may be the society and her husband's support fell short in front of all those negative factors.
I dunno anymore whether I should be angry or pity Dev. He could have been a good husband if he din't carry Dixit baggage and also an amazing dad while enjoying his life to the fullest and now he seems to be nowhere near the h of happiness.

Ya you are right it's very rare but I have seen both types
My brother supported his wife and they adopted a child but she conceived after 5 years like some miracle happened or they it blessed for their love
And rest only rest on their children
I don't know why people has problem in adopting

Dev being forced (or even as per his own wish) to live in the Bose house will be the best thing to ever happen to him/the show/the viewers.
Just the thought of him under Bijoy's dictatorship gives me the high i get from my 3 spoons of Nutella. πŸ˜†

ALAS I don't think it'll ever happen.πŸ€”

I was wondering whether we'll ever get to see Sona's wishes/feelings becoming more important than his own for Dev.It has always been either Ishwari's feelings or wishes that were prioritized or Dev's expectations from Sonakshi with regards to his feelings. Will Soha's wonderful upbringing or her innocent questions make him think about that. In today's episode,he said he has become someone other than a bad husband. But is he saying that because it has been repeatedly told by Sonakshi to him i.e how she views him or because he genuinely believes it? If he really believes it,then does he know where he went wrong? Because I only saw him blaming Sonakshi for leaving him or blaming Ishwari for creating such situations.
Even if he proves to be a good father, that does not automatically erase his past mistakes and make him a good husband.Moaning and crying about his self-inflicted misery is also not gonna cut it obviously. He literally treated Sona like a toy initially and then a baby popper. If Devakshi are the end game, then how will that redemption happen?πŸ˜•
Edit :Also,if he makes some efforts to bring Sona back in his life now, won't that be only because of Soha? Because before knowing about Soha,he didn't feel it necessary to do so.Before marriage,he made it all about Ishwari while convincing her and now it would be Soha. where's Sonakshi in all this?
