Layer by layer, we are getting to see the emotions underneath the 'we don't care' faces!
For Dev, who is donning the 'I-am-not-bothered-about-anyone and I-can-be-happy-without-her' attitude, It was all about broken promises.
Though he never could live upto the promises he made, or I should rephrase it to say circumstances never allowed him to do so, somehow he was entirely dependent on Sonakshi to be by his side, to continue to be his pillar of strength.
His fear before the marriage, just when the prenup papers were brought before him said it all.
"Mai kabhi apse door nahi jaungi, ap mujhe chhod kar chale jaayenge tab bhi"
He had high expectations that she would keep her promise. Sonakshi faltered in doing that.
But, whats the admirable part here is that Sonakshi tried her best to not let go. After her breakdown point was reached, she let it all collapse at once. All this was triggered by the totally negative atmosphere around them, so if Sonakshi left him at that point it wasn't entirely her fault.
And Dev knows this.
He is angry on her but doesn't, in his heart, blame her for the failure of their relationship. He has his own bundle of guilt and resentment burdening his heart , resentment that his family could not be happy in the only thing he wanted for himself.
Dev doesn't shy away in expressing how Sonakshi was the only girl he loved, loved infinitely and that there will be no other woman who could take her place.
He feels betrayed. Feels rejected.
Yesterday he said,
"Mujhe aisa lag raha hai mere sath dhoka ho raha hai"
Not only his mother could keep his happiness intact, his love herself was not willing to struggle.
"Wo har uchai ko chu rahi hai, aage bad rahi hai..mere bina."
"Mai aajtak ye soch kar khush rehta tha ke wo bhi mere jaise haal me hogi..."
When Sonakshi left, did Dev doubt on her love ? No.
Till date, both Dev and Sonakshi beautifully acknowledge that their love was very much real. But it was short-lived for them.
But now when Ishwari broke the news that she was moving on, he burnt in anger. For this meant, she was over his love. That would mean she never loved as deeply as he did.
This was something not digestible for Dev.
When Sonakshi told the truth that Jatin was just a friend, he wore that cloak of indifference again, though the feeling of being betrayed by his mother came back in again. Also, a sense of reli ef accompanied it. Ishwari lying had hurt him badly and since, he knows there is no point doing anything about it (as Sonakshi is no more with him) he said, He does not bother whether she stays alone or marries anyone.
Really Dev? All of us already have seen you 'almost' repeating Dev Ki Deewangi 2.0😆
About Sonakshi, just like Dev... she is angry on him for not trying. For always blindly letting others take control in their relationship. She knows he did not push Bose Family out of the house intentionally but her complain is not that. She resented how he could be so oblivious to what all was happening. How he could be manipulated so easily, how he could not stand up for their relationship when testing times came
But does she blame him entirely for it? No, because like Dev, she also never doubted his love. She knows he loved her, cared for her, never intended to hurt her but circumstances never favored him.
"Puri galti unki nahi ho sakti, kahi na kahi meri bhi galti hogi"
The most beautiful part of DevAkshi's relationship is (Ignoring all the superficial layers of Hatred, indifference, insults and anger) that they don't deny the other's love for them,
they don't think it was entirely the other's fault,
they are well aware of what went wrong,
They know who the antagonists in their relationship were
And Dev has now already admitted that he still loves her, Sona is in denial though (J successfully managed to let that truth out though),
So all in all, they are at a stage where they have given up on their relationship completely, with no hopes left.. succumbing to the adversities life had thrown at them. There is no misunderstanding to be cleared here, no lies (in terms of how their relationship fell apart).. so when They will come back, it will be a very natural process, where they discover how they were inseparable and how they were always meant to be together.
God has given them the thickest string to hold on to, Soha.
And about Dev being so dumb to connect the dots😆, I think it is more about confusion and disbelief.
Never in his dreams would he have imagined Sonakshi having a daughter, that too his. And him being unaware of it all for 7 years.
One because Sonakshi was undergoing infertility treatment which obviously could never be completed and Second, because they separated after it.
This is too much of a miracle for Dev to even think of.
Hence, even when everything is right infront of him, he is in complete denial until the truth is spelled out directly. He would not be able to add 2+2 till then.
Indeed, Soha is a miracle😳
P.S. I loved the episode so much! Specially how Dev was so so amazed on seeing Soha in Bose house, how he was smiling on seeing Sourab happy, how was admiring Sonakshi's beauty and that "Pyaar se dekh lo to.." dialogue, how he called Elena to let her know about her brother and him overhearing Soha praising BigCha.
Every single moment was ❤️
Also, how can we forget the most adorable golu😳 He became a gossip aunty today😆
